More Weapons
Hey everyone. I'm back from Japan with another update!
Dread Protocol is a game about guns. There are currently over 40 weapons, all with procedurally generated stats, fire types, and attachments.
Well, this update adds six new weapons.
Varangian Laser
Think Spartan Laser from Halo.
This hold-and-release power weapon allows you to kill multiple enemies in a row with a single burst.
It’s also extremely effective against bosses.
Powertools
Close-Quarters Powertools.
I've added the Chainsaw and the Heavy Drill. Both of these weapons serve as lethal close-quarters melee tools. Simply run into enemies to mow them down.
You can also fire these weapons to tear limbs off enemies at a distance.
The Chainsaw costs less ammo to fire. However, the Drill has the added advantage of being able to penetrate walls, making it easy to target a wall and suck enemies into space.
The Chainsaw’s melee range is also slightly smaller than the Drill’s.
Pattern Carbine
Inspired by the Pulse Rifle from the Aliens franchise, this is an ultra-aggressive burst rifle with a fire rate higher than any procedurally generated rifle.
The intention was for it to feel like a premium pick.
The biggest downside is how quickly it can chew through ammo, so you’ll probably want a different ammo type for your secondary weapon.
Flamethrower & Blow Torch
Both of these weapons are great for crowd control.
While they behave similarly, the Blow Torch is the weaker option. It has half the fire volume, half the range, and a smaller capacity.
Additional Patch Notes
Fixed a crashing issue on the Gruber floor • Fixed NavMeshLinks in several rooms that prevented enemies on higher platforms from jumping down • Fixed a bug where your sidearm could fire one shot when equipping a new weapon from the floor • Improved the Slaver “Out of Fuel” event. Previously, when stripped of your weapons, the character model would still use the aiming pose despite being unarmed. This has now been replaced with an unequipped animation.
