DOOMTRAIN changes
It is with heavy hearts and mixed emotions that we share some difficult news. After six incredible, challenging, and rewarding years, Pizza Club Games is shutting down. Consequently, development on DOOMTRAIN has come to an end.
For a wholly independent studio, six years is a lifetime. What began in California as a local dream evolved into a remote operation spanning the nation. We fought daily to keep this vision on the tracks, navigating market shifts and the sheer exhaustion of the indie hustle—always fueled by the belief that our next game would finally secure our place in this industry.
This story has been defined by the people behind the screen. We want to recognize the dedication of our team members who have been with us from the very beginning or any part of our journey—those who stood with us from the launch of Raid Boss through to the final frames of DOOMTRAIN and everywhere in between. Your unwavering commitment was the engine of this studio.
DOOMTRAIN was our final love letter to the industry. We poured everything—our finances, our late nights, and our creative spirit—into the vision of a battle train spreading the hope of unionization through corporate Hell. We spent months pitching and searching for the funding required to bring that experience to life.
However, today’s industry climate is unforgiving. Despite the passion of our team and the support of our community, we were unable to secure the partner or the runway needed to reach the finish line. We have reached the limit of our financial resources and can no longer sustain the studio.
We are heartbroken, but we refuse to look back with anything but pride. We lasted six years as a truly independent shop. We stayed true to our weirdest ideas until the very last frame. We built a family.
To the Pizzas that played our games: Thank you for riding with us. Whether you spent hours in our worlds or cheered us on from the sidelines, you were the reason we kept the heartbeat running as long as we did.
The studio is closing and the train is stopping here, but the impact of these six years remains. Our priority now is supporting our team as they find new tracks to follow.
Thank you for being part of our club.
With love and gratitude,
The Pizza Club Games Team
