DIVE or DIE - Children of Rain changes
The 3rd patch for the demo is here! It includes several improvements in terms of balancing, UI, onboarding, and fixes. Feel free to play again and give us your feedback on the changes!
IMPROVEMENTS
Balancing
We made a few changes to the dreaded Rain-touched in the early game (these changes are way less significant on the Blessed Rain-touched):
Their aggro range has been reduced.
The pause they take after attacking has been very slightly lengthened.
There can no longer be 2 Rain-touched below the ruined building in the non-blessed version of the Shallows.
After a Black Rain event, the extra Rain-touched will no longer spawn very close to the surface.
Survivors will no longer go missing before day 10.
Diver will no longer come back with crippling conditions before day 8.
Sacrificing a survivor as an offering now grants 15% Worship gauge per survivor level (up from 10%).
Swapped the positions of the blueprints for the Large needle gun magazine and the Beacon so the former is usually found earlier. If you already found one of these blueprints, the other one will be exactly where you got the first one.
Removed one Plaguebloom from the Eastern farmlands.
Rain-touched and Sanity leeches now fill the Blood moon gauge a little more.
UI
Added a weather indicator under the countdown when a special weather event is active. It can be hovered for a reminder of the event’s effects.
Added outlines around each undiscovered area of the map to let you know what areas you’re missing the map item for.
Removed the “Man the Town hall to upgrade structures” UI feedback so you can see and hover structure upgrade ingredients even when no one is manning the Town hall. The UI is greyed out and the error shows when you click the button instead.
The oxygen widget now pulses purple when you’re Insane.
The consumable count widget on the Diving deck’s inventory has been made more obvious.
Library resources are now sorted alphabetically.
Heal body & mind is now locked when it should be on Insane or Unconscious survivors.
Other minor UI polish to increase clarity.
Onboarding
Added an additional confirmation popup to Sacrifice altars, warning you that blessing the area will make it a lot more difficult. We want you to be able to bless areas early, but only if you really know what you’re getting yourself into.
The demo’s “Welcome popup” now mentions that the countdown starts on day 3 to reduce confusion around the 10 day limit not matching the countdown.
The entrance to the Ruined building in the Shallows is now easier to spot.
Crafting Darts now unlocks as soon as you find the blueprint for the Needle gun (previously they only unlocked after you crafted it).
FIXES
Gameplay
Fixed a bug that caused the Rain-touched to stop playing sounds after losing their aggro.
Fixed a rare bug that could prevent you from looting an item with 0 weight (e.g a Blueprint) while at your maximum carry capacity.
UI
Fixed a bug that prevented the “Clear” button from working when changing manning on a structure.
Fixed a bug that caused the consumable count widget to stay up on the Diving deck’s inventory with no item selected.
Fixed a few instances where the Needle gun’s name wouldn’t display properly during dives.
Fixed existing save slots not displaying difficulty information when “New game” was selected.
Fixed a bug that caused the Workshop menu to display the wrong number of crafted items after crafting ammo or consumables.
Graphics
Fixed a bunch of layer issues that caused decorative assets to show above and below certain creatures intermittently.
Fixed a few parallax issues on certain decorative assets.
Localization
Fixed a few text localization issues.
