DIESELDOME: Oil & Blood changes
Today, we're launching the Wretch update, which yet again introduces a slew of new content, features, and improvements. This update has been tested a bit less than we'd like, so keep an eye out for frequent hotfix updates this week! We're also going to be part of the Debut Festival 2025 which starts today! Now, let's check out what awaits you in the Dome:
Perk Overhaul & New Perks
For this update, we have remade nearly every perk (We have more than 70+ perks in the demo now!) in the game. Most perks are completely new or work differently now.
Our main reason for this rework was to give each perk tree a more distinct identity for making more focused builds. Let's see just a few examples of the new perks: Monument of Glory
This V8-Powered monument drops from the skies to those that deserve it. While within its radius, your weapons are significantly powered up!
Effectus Coriolensis & Gauge Increase These new perks actually adjust the size of your projectiles. Effectus Coriolensis increases the size of your bullet over time, and Gauge Increase increases it overall even further. Sometimes you can even end up creating building sized bullets!
Shoulder Missile Rack
This perk adds a shoulder mounted rocket launcher that homes in on enemies. It is a great defensive perk that covers your back.
There's many, many more new perks to try out in this update, but we'll let you discover them yourselves!
Tutorial Level
We've added a whole new dedicated Tutorial in this update. Our old tutorial was a makeshift solution that didn't teach our movement mechanics properly. The new tutorial scene gives players a proper introduction to both our world and also game mechanics.
All core aspects of the game are taught step by step in the dark pits below the arena. We also get to see Spartacus rise from a lowly wretch to a DomeRunner. Check it out:
Enemy AI & Spawning System Rework
Abominations of the Dome are much more dangerous now thanks to reworks to our AI and spawner systems! Enemies now spawn and behave more intelligently. Our new spawning system introduces enemies gradually instead of letting them loose all at once and it also adjusts their spawn rates accordingly to a more noticeable difficulty curve.
Our AI for each enemy on the other hand, has been adjusted so that they accomplish their role more efficiently. We have also introduced roaming enemies to the dome. Roaming enemies roam around the map instead of directly chasing the player. If the player comes too close to them, they turn agressive. Roamers give players a new challenge because now players encounter many more enemies in front of them.
Shader Improvements
We've switched up our old shaders with some new ones! We've been unhappy with how our textures looked with our old system for a while but the new shader system makes a truly big difference. Our art team is finally happy! Here's a comparison:

Patch Notes
A new dedicated tutorial level. (You can play it by choosing the dummy in the main menu if loading from an existing profile)
Nearly every perk and perk tree has been remade, most of the perks are completely new. There's now more than 70+ perks in the demo!
All enemy AI has been been reworked to work better.
Some enemies now roam the map instead of chasing the player. These roamers become alerted when the player is close-by.
Enemy spawn system has been remade. Now enemies are gradually introduced one by one during a match instead of all of them spawning at the same time.
Wall-run speed has been decreased for more control over movement.
Weapons have been rebalanced and the maximum range system has been adjusted.
Our existing Thraex enemy type has been split into two different enemies; Ranged and Melee Thraex, both with new textures.
New models for power-ups.
The victory timer has been reduced to 10 minutes. In our current game-mode, we've found that the time it takes to finish a run was too long and the experience would become stale after a while. Let us know what you think about this change!
Shader overhaul that enables better lighting and textures.
