FIRST MAJOR GAME UPDATE - DESOLATION v2.0 PART 1
Thank you all for being so patient whilst we have been working through the criticisms and advice we have received from the community. We are really pleased to be able to give you all the first major update to Desolation, including some MAJOR changes to the backend systems.
We hear you. The game at release definitely had some work needed and we are pleased to offer this update, V2.0 as the first attempt into making this game as good as it can be.
Please continue to give us your opinions while we are in early access we are listening to everyone! Desolation as our first game has been amazing and we have learnt a lot about what needs to be done to continue working and improving upon the game, we have SO MUCH planned. You guys have been incredible with helping us test and work through the issues, here’s the changes in the most recent update.
Bug Fixes
AI's could not see you.
Crow sounds were really loud.
AI's would not attack you.
AI's could not see multiplayer players.
AI's could be T-Posing occasionally.
Joining the game after the game has started would break the game.
Not everyone would get the voice acting on start.
Syncing errors with widgets.
Bombs would not be synced if players were too far apart.
Everyone would get a sound played on their side if someone got chased by a zombie.
If AI attacked as players left it would go in an infinite loop.
AI would lose track of you while you being in sight.
Objectives would not sync network wise.
You could not assign max players for a lobby.
When you died you would start flying.
Improvements
Improved the sounds of the zombies. (In-world sounds that actually comes from the zombies)
Redesigned the whole UI system.
Optimized the entire map.
Made the map smaller in size.
Camera is now smoother.
Flashlight delays after rotation.
Revamped every backend system that builds up the foundation of Desolation to perform better.
Pickup notification when you pick up an item.
"Progress story" pop up when you reach a story item you can't use yet to avoid confusion.
Attack indication around screen.
Added a fade in as the game loads in
Made every UI item spawn in naturally with animations.
Added a cutscene at the start.
Multiplayer rework.
Day and night cycle has been reworked.
Improved fog and atmosphere of the game.
Added ambiance soundtracks and sounds.
Startup screen of the game has been revamped.
Animations is added to the menus.
Loading screen system has been redeveloped.
Endings are now reworked and works correctly.
Added
LOBBY SYSTEM
- There is now a lobby system to make everyone ready to go into the world of desolation.
PROXIMITY VOICE CHAT
- You are now able to talk with your fellow mates through the voice chat in game.
MAX PLAYERS & NOT ABLE TO JOIN IN-GAME LOBBIES
- You are now able to set an actual max amount of players for your lobby and you will not be able to join in-game lobbies.
SETTINGS MENU
- We have now after high demand finally implemented a more detailed settings menu, where you are able to change settings. This one is still under testing and is only available from IN GAME. If you find any issues let us know.
Coming next we have the ‘part 2’ of V2.0 which will include more MAJOR changes to the game and even new enemies, endings and more. Thanks again for all the patience whilst we continue to work on the game.
