addedThe Camera Update - February 20thI wanted to communicate the date of the next update which will be a chunky one (v0.3.0). As I outlined in my loose roadmap of update themes, each major update will be a holistic overhaul of a single system, mixed with new content and bug fixes of course. The first major update will be The Camera Update. What should you expect?
changedThe Camera Update - February 20thA Dynamic Perspective - Resizing the window will automatically change the view between Landscape or Portrait without any extra player input. This frees up a key entirely and makes the process of setting your ant farm's screen space vibe easier.
changedThe Camera Update - February 20thImproved Zoom - A clearer Zoom UI, rather than just the bar currently in-game. You can also use the mouse wheel (or two fingers on a trackpad) to zoom in both directions.

The Camera Update - February 20th

Hey all,

I wanted to communicate the date of the next update which will be a chunky one (v0.3.0). As I outlined in my loose roadmap of update themes, each major update will be a holistic overhaul of a single system, mixed with new content and bug fixes of course. The first major update will be The Camera Update. What should you expect?

  1. A Dynamic Perspective - Resizing the window will automatically change the view between Landscape or Portrait without any extra player input. This frees up a key entirely and makes the process of setting your ant farm's screen space vibe easier.

  2. Improved Zoom - A clearer Zoom UI, rather than just the bar currently in-game. You can also use the mouse wheel (or two fingers on a trackpad) to zoom in both directions.

  3. Borderless Window Mouse Control - In addition to pressing tab to make the window borderless, you will be able to press the mouse wheel (three finger tap on a trackpad). This means that all camera control can now be done via the mouse or the keyboard.

These changes just make getting the window to the size, view, shape you need easier. There will be plenty of other things in the update. Cleaning up some jittery menu boxes if you hover them just so slightly in an odd spot. Some more lofi tracks. Several more stats. Several more achievements.

The core camera work changes are done and just need to be stress-tested. Whatever else gets refined and added by Feb.20 will make up the first meaty patch notes of Desktop Ant Farm Simulator.

If you have any ideas or suggestions, make them known! And thank you again for supporting this fun little project. It's a lot of fun to really iron it out and make it the best it can be!

See you all in two weeks,

Kyle
