Descending The Woods changes
The final post before releasing the kraken (the major expansion).
COMBAT EXPANDED
There are new monsters that you will have to fight physically, both below and on the surface. The overall melee combat has been also improved for this purpose.
moths swarm around light not because they like it but to destroy it. Introducing Moths, these monsters hate lights.
They spit acid
They surround you and fight
They get enraged by lights
They destroy your lights
They mostly attack at night
CASEFILE CONTRACTS
Accept risky contracts -> Complete them -> Get high-value rewards
You will get new contracts each day, different goals / different rewards. Embark on risky missions with your friends.
Level up your clearance level to qualify for higher risk contract with better rewards.
PET COMPANION
Make a tamed animal your persistent companion!
You can level them up and they gain traits, sniff out danger and lead you to hidden places, based on those traits.
They're basically your augmented senses inside the woods, but they need care. They persist between runs and can go with you anywhere, if you train them to be brave.
THE FARM 2.0
Farms are now persistent, and upgradable. You can install modules on the farm to make it stronger and better during night attacks or more efficient for farming.
If you start a new run, the previous farm and everything in it will carry over. That includes any built stuff, silo storage content, farm module upgrades, along with any attached ghosts! (see ghost manifestation further below)
NIGHT DEFENSE 2.0
Night attacks are paced and entities smarter, as if the witch is controlling them.
They test the house for weak spots
They focus on breaching weak windows
And they swarm on a broken window.
There is a flock of RAVENS circling above your farm. They are cursed and can dive attack anyone who's outside. Fun fact: A flock of ravens is called an "unkindness" or "conspiracy", "treachery" even.
GHOST MANIFESTATION
During night, ghosts can teleport inside the house through an open window and manifest inside a room, That allow other entities to teleport inside through the manifestation, Which makes the room haunted. Haunted rooms affect your farm and make animals runaway and spoil your crops.
You're able to investigate haunted rooms to find clues, and exorcise the manifested ghost using those clues.
Barricading windows are now crucial, and that's unfortunate because camping on rooftops is no longer a good option to spend the night instead of defending inside.
RECORDED ACCOUNT
Your progress is recorded and actions rewarded, earn ranks, prestige and level up in both games (CURSE HAUNTER and DESCENDING THE WOODS)

There are Backpacks, Wearable gears, Trophy Walls to fill, and more improvements.
This amount of change and additions are no longer in bounds of a Major Expansion, This is now the Kraken Expansion.
