The World Map Update has arrived! This update introduces a new way to explore and build your operations beyond the starting location.

Sectors have unique biomes that dictate the appearance of the sector, but more importantly they control the types of resources available there. Each sector has an initial access fee along with daily maintenance costs.

Sectors can be leased from the World Map window, which unlocks once your colony has earned sufficient reputation with The Corporation.

Other Changes

  • Added Relays for long-range transport with no limit on connection distance.

  • Supply ships now reward reputation for each delivered load.

  • When making connections to transport hubs, supply ships, relays, and HQ, the allowed resources are automatically updated.

  • The tooltip for Tech Credits has been updated to provide more information about amounts earned and spent.

  • Old save files will not work with the 0.16 update.

State of the Game

The World Map is the last large game mechanic on the DSD roadmap. With such a major addition, different aspects of the game will need to be rebalanced. Some rebalancing has already been done, and more is planned through feedback and continued playtesting.

At the moment there are no known game-breaking bugs, but I do have a list of items that still need polish or mechanical tweaks to work better or as intended. These include:

  • Priority-based delivery is not as accurate or responsive as it should be.

  • Missile towers only seem to target objects when they first approach.

  • Repair hubs don’t always recognize damaged buildings — moving the hub to a new location resolves this.

  • When importing resources, the unloading process does not fully complete before shipping a new load for sale.

While the performance of DSD has improved significantly since the initial release, once the current list of bugs has been reduced the game will receive another round of polish to further improve performance, especially with larger colonies.

Moving forward, the hope is that DSD can return to smaller and more frequent updates as bugs are fixed, mechanics are polished, and new content is added.

As always, your feedback is deeply appreciated.
