Major Updates

Improved Card Fusion Preview System

The Card Fusion Preview system has been significantly upgraded. Fusion previews now more closely resemble actual combat, including movement, attacks, projectiles, hit effects, and damage output.

New Summon Attack Warning System

Added a new UI system that previews a summon’s next attack. Targeted tiles are now highlighted with blue warning indicators and a dedicated attack panel.

Manual Reward Collection

Battle rewards are no longer collected automatically. Players must now manually collect dropped rewards using the F key or the appropriate controller button.

Visual Novel Dialogue Interface

Added and refined an in-game Visual Novel-style dialogue system. Dialogue logs, auto-play, navigation controls, and choice selection flow have all been improved.

Controller & Handheld Improvements

Overall controller and handheld device support has been improved, providing a more stable gameplay experience.

Card Fusion & Battle Preview

  • Fusion previews now play actual CEP-based animations, projectiles, and hit effects.

  • Movement cards now move tile-by-tile, matching actual combat behavior.

  • Attack-only cards no longer force unnecessary character movement and instead display attacks and damage from the current position.

  • Improved projectile behavior for cards such as Fireball, including positioning, direction, collision detection, and hit effects.

  • Enhanced preview indicators for multi-move, chase, teleport, and area-of-effect attack cards.

  • Added a dedicated preview camera, render layers, object pooling, and manual rendering restrictions to improve performance and visual stability.

  • Fusion damage bonuses are now displayed as badges on cards.

  • Fusion material compatibility is now easier to identify through light and dark visual effects on card surfaces.

  • Fixed an issue where failed fusion effects would not appear when duplicate materials were added.

Summons & Warning Tiles

  • Added dedicated blue warning tiles that indicate a summon’s next attack target.

  • Added summon icons, directional arrows, and blue-themed borders to summon attack panels.

  • Summon attack warnings are now recalculated properly after enemy deaths, summon movement, or direction changes.

  • Improved accuracy for random-tile attack summons such as Mimics and Fire Dragons so that previewed attack locations match actual impact locations.

  • Added a summon attack thumbnail generation tool that allows attack preview icons to be generated and saved directly from the editor.

Rewards & Map UI

  • Battle rewards must now be collected manually instead of being picked up automatically.

  • Added a dedicated reward pickup prompt when collectible rewards are available.

  • Connected reward collection messages to localized STR data.

  • Added reward selection UI for situations where multiple rewards overlap.

  • Added a map preview button to the bottom HUD.

  • Map previews now correctly indicate the player's current position.

  • Prevented NPC reward UI from overlapping during map previews.

  • Fixed an issue where the map button could disappear after returning from combat.

Story & Visual Novel Dialogue

  • Added a framework for displaying NPC conversations using a Visual Novel-style interface.

  • Added dialogue logs, auto-play functionality, previous/next dialogue navigation, and choice selection UI.

  • VN dialogue button prefabs have been separated for easier editing within Unity.

  • Fixed duplicate skip buttons and unnecessary close text being recreated.

  • Fixed an issue where character portraits remained darkened after skipping dialogue.

  • Prevented runtime warnings caused by accessing inactive Animators.

Controller & Handheld Controls

  • Improved gamepad focus navigation across multiple screens, including Title, Character Select, Options, Reward Selection, Map, and Battle Hand interfaces.

  • Fixed issues where A/B button prompts could remain from previous selections or appear multiple times.

  • Improved D-pad navigation, B-button cancellation, selection colors, and border display within option menu dropdowns.

  • Fixed an issue where the first battle hand card would not receive focus upon entering combat.

  • Fixed screen Y-axis jitter when navigating maps with the D-pad.

  • Improved controller prompts to prevent them from covering tooltips or icons.

  • Enhanced input stability for devices such as ROG Ally and Steam Deck.

Shop & Economy

  • Expanded discounted shop inventory to allow up to three discounted items.

  • Discount information is now preserved when re-entering shops or loading saved games.

  • Fixed an issue where passive cards could be equipped incorrectly from the shop.

Bosses & Balance

Oogama

  • Adjusted behavior flow so Oogama lands immediately on the following turn after jumping.

  • Oogama can now summon Baby Oogamas even while at high HP.

  • Reduced Oogama's absorption healing from 200 HP per target to 20 HP per target.

  • Updated localized card descriptions to reflect the balance changes.

Chiwoo

  • Improved Chiwoo's medium-range charge attack warning area to better match actual body hitbox coverage and provide clearer telegraphing.

Bug Fixes & Quality Improvements

  • Added expected damage values and trap icons to trap tiles.

  • Fixed unnecessary turn panels and text remaining visible during trap previews.

  • Fixed maximum damage calculations on the results screen so that visual-only damage is no longer included.

  • Improved map UI HP display to show Current HP / Maximum HP format.

  • Fixed an issue where clicking UI buttons behind the hand could accidentally play a card.

  • Fixed equipment UI appearing above animation canvases.

  • Improved focus scaling for newly acquired cards and reward cards.

  • Enhanced Addressables build configuration and overall player build stability.

  • Resolved various Animator warnings, selection UI warnings, and prefab prompt generation issues.

Overall

This update represents a major step forward for DeckLand, focusing on four key areas:

Controller UX Improvements → Fusion Preview Overhaul → Reward/Map/VN UI Expansion → Summon Attack Telegraph System

Together, these changes provide a more polished, readable, and controller-friendly gameplay experience.
