Decked Out changes
Another week, another devlog... and this time we want to introduce some of the expansions to the Ranger's kit coming to the first major update. All cards we introduce here have placeholder art for both card art and their in game projectiles, but we'll have finished assets in-game when 0.5 drops!
Toxic Cards
As with Wizard, we don't want all viable builds to be focussed on the 3 major keywords (Shots/Traps/Beasts in the case of Ranger). So we're introducing a variety of cards that are tied together by other mechanics. The first of which is Toxic Cards.
All damaging cards with the Toxic tag apply the Poisoned status effect, and anyone familiar with poison will know that the more stacks you apply the more powerful it becomes!
Spined shell will see a follow-up to the popular Scorch Disk, allowing you to bounce a poisoning shell accross the battlefield!
Even the common card Poisoned Dart can be powerful when combined with some of the new Gem and Power Card support we're adding.
Primal Cards
The Primal tag is exactly what you're looking for if you want to get your hands dirty and shred enemies to bits! These cards are generally lower cost, and work great with damage enhancing Gems and Artifacts.
Gouge becomes more powerful every time you kill an enemy with it, better yet the multicast effect can be used to snowball this effect even faster!
Woried about taking down a boss? If you can stall for time, Adrenaline will slowly build up your bonus damage until you're ready to land a killing strike!
Tech Cards
If you're looking for something off the beaten path, Tech might have what you're looking for.
Unusually for a Rare Card, Hunter Drone allows you to fill the battlefield with units that attack for you! The keen eyed will have also spotted the Boosted keyword that creates powerful synergies between cards and your basic attack damage.
Aimbot reinforces this synergy by giving you a way to attack quickly even very early into your run... and I can image you're thinking these cards would be especially good if you could play multiple copies of them...
Not only will Fabricator allow you to fill the battlefield with drones, but even the gems inside your cards are copied!
Of course there is plenty more too look out for, including new Shots, Traps and Beasts... and we've not even made a start on what Wizard has coming! Until next time...
