Devlog #3 - Going Meta

As promised last week, we have a special announcement! You can now sign-up to playtest a very early Demo of Decked Out. To do so - go to the Decked Out page and click the "Request Access" button on the Playtest section.

We're so excited to see what you guys think of this little taster of what's to come - and of course we will be very grateful for any feedback you give.

Meta Game

We're trying quite a different approach when it comes to unlockables in Decked Out all surrounding a special resource called Crystals.

You can collect Crystals in a few different ways, and should be gathering a fair bit just from playing the game. Each boss will drop a Crystal every time you defeat it, and the final boss will drop two. And then there's...

Quests

These objectives will give you a variety of sub-goals you can focus on during your runs. Once we're in Early Access every Quest will be tied to an Achievement - making it very simple to keep track of what you want to work on next in game.

If you're looking for inspiration, the Quest Preview panel at the top left of the main menu will show you the Quests you're closest to completing.

Unlocks

So, what will you be doing with your Crystals? I'm glad you asked!

There will be a variety of Cards for you to unlock, giving them a chance to appear in your future runs. These can be anything for existing support for a theme you like to enabling an entierly new win condition.

As you'd expect you can also unlock additional Artifacts and even Gems for the Blacksmith in the same way. As we develop Decked Out we'll be experimenting with new unlock types while paying close attention to community feedback to make sure we're moving in the right direction!
