Here's your seasonal news about DeathTower!
First, some good news: we have packed almost all the new features and upgrades into an update for the demo that will be released very soon. Don't hesitate to try it out!
Erebus : We've worked hard on the Erebus hub, the city of µbots where players start every run. There's still work to be done on it, but it's starting to work as we intended on a visual and design perspective.
Hackforge : we've updated the visual on the hackforge feature, you can install upgrades you've found in the Megaryon on your character to enhance their habilities. Beware though, it only remains in your actual body, if you lose, you lose the chips!
A lot of changes are planned on the hack to streamline their use and allow you to engage and make more interesting changes with them. In the near future we will have passive hacks that are permanent buffs so you may want to have stronger build opportunities and more interest to pay attention to hacks.
Direct control : Many players asked us to make exploration more fluid by giving them direct control of the characters with the gamepad control scheme. We asked ourselves if this wouldn't make the game too deceptive with tactical controls. However, after implementing direct control, we decided that exploring the Megaryon was much more pleasant like that, we kept the old systems under the rug in case a setting is needed.
Keyboard & mouse compatibility : To further improve the user experience, we added keyboard and mouse controls to the game. It will now be fully playable with these devices. There are still some input quircks to iron out but its finally here upcoming in the next demo! You can try it out on the bleeding ege on Itch if you wish.
New Timeline (mockup) : We're are planning to improve the visuals for the game's timeline, and the character's turn will be displayed more clearly. Be wary its not yet in the demo. Don't hesitate if you have feedbacks about this!
Boss Parasite Queen : Here's a sneak peek at the second boss in the game. The Parasite Queen is a mutated parasite that has invaded an egg-laying machine. She will pose a serious threat to the team, but Herk will play a huge role in slaying her for good.
Here is for some bad news : Despite all of our efforts, the crisis finally found its way to our team and we had to make the heart breaking choice to let a lot of people go. There is barely any cash and not enough work for hire to be sustainable anymore for everyone.
They are our friends and colleagues, we are proud of what they did for us and their work is here in the game forever.
=> Don't worry the game is progressing and will keep on progressing steadily but it may get a bit slower.
We had an internal deadline for the game's early access for September but we will postpone that. We will announce a new date as soon as we have the early access content in polish phases.
Honestly the early access contents are nearly all there, our colleagues worked very hard on that, we essentially need a lot of dev time to iron out and polish what is here.
