This is the biggest update to Death by Scrolling since launch. New content, new systems, and more ways to customize your run. Here's what's new.
Changes
New Character - Demon Debbie: A new playable character has joined the roster. Debbie starts with 4 hearts, transforms into a flying demon while sprinting, spawns a helper when she drops below three hearts, and throws fireballs as her default weapon. She's a lot.
New Biome - Lava World: A new biome has been added, and purgatory just got a lot hotter. Fire traps, fire-spewing monsters, and more demons than you can shake a fireball at. Pack accordingly. Leaving your ice bow at home will be a decision you regret.
New Power-ups: New power-ups have been added across the run, including bazooka launchers and laser guns. Because apparently a fireball wasn't getting the point across.
Full Player Stats: All of your stats are now fully visible at any time. See exactly what your build is doing and make informed decisions instead of guessing.
New Achievements: Several new achievements have been added. Some are straightforward. Others are not.
New Biome Music: Each biome now has its own unique music track. Purgatory deserves atmosphere.
Power-up Removal: You can now remove power-ups from your build during a run. Not every power-up is a good fit for every build, and sometimes cutting one loose is the right call. This gives you real control over how your run develops.
Tuning: A large number of balance and tuning changes have been made across enemies, power-ups, biomes, and progression. There are too many to list individually. You'll feel them.
Additional Notes
This update has been in the works for a while and reflects a lot of the feedback we've seen from the community. The power-up removal system in particular was one of the most requested features since launch, and full stat visibility has been something players have wanted from the start. We hope these changes make each run feel more deliberate and more yours.
