The Dead Reckoning demo is live

Dead Reckoning is a text-heavy generation-ship colony sim with a CRT aesthetic — a thousand colonists across interstellar dark, and a pile of decisions that almost never have a clean answer. After a long voyage to get here, the demo is up. What's in it

You'll play the opening stretch — about the first thirty years of the voyage. Long enough to meet your crew, make some decisions you'll probably regret, watch a system or two start to drift, and get a feel for the shape of the thing. The full game runs far beyond that and branches into eleven different endings, but this slice should tell you whether the core loop clicks for you. What I'm asking

This is a solo-dev project and I'm still actively polishing. If you have a request, a criticism, a "this felt off," a "this event confused me," a "the UI on X should do Y" — please tell me. Post here, post on the forum, hop in the Discord (https://discord.gg/p2xrKcQ7nD) — I read everything. If feedback points at something that would make the game better, it gets looked at. A lot of what's in the current build came straight from playtester notes. You're not just beta-testing here — you're helping shape the polish on a game that's genuinely still being finished. Known things

  • Save/load is disabled in the demo — runs are short by design

  • Advanced research tiers are locked to keep things focused

  • 14 achievement icons are still placeholder — new art landing soon

Thanks for being here. The voyage gets a lot stranger past year thirty. — Garan Lorn
