History of Punk - Punk Today

Punk is more diverse than it ever was first starting out. Punk has such a wide range that just saying you like punk might not be enough to really say what type of music you like. Hardcore punk, Pop punk, Punk rock, Anarcho punk, and so many more. Punk continues to evolve and adapt to incorporate different elements from other genes like electronic music, hip-hop, and more.

There are quite a few emerging bands revitalizing punk and continuing the genre. Sheer Mag, La Dispute, Tacocat, G.L.O.S.S. are just a couple of the bands each with their own backgrounds. Have a little listen to Sheer Mag.

The fashion for punk has also evolved with the clothing. While it is still about individualism it has continued to include the ripped clothing, clothes that might not fit anymore, and more. Safety pins, patches, cuffs and more are just a few of the added accessories to the style. They are still wild and a great way to stand out as an individual.
