Patch Notes

Instructions

  • Instructions on how to play have been added to the start of Episode 1. These explain the controls and how to beat microgames.

Writing and Sequencing

  • Rewrote and polished lots of dialogue.

  • All three character arcs have been strengthened.

  • Added a few more jokes and punched up some existing ones.

  • Lots of small adjustments have been made to improve pacing and sequencing.

  • Fixed some grammatical errors.

Microgames

  • Added a new microgame to Episode 4 that happens during a short new scene.

  • Improved the Episode 5 microgame where you have to click 3 icons 3 times. The icons now have to be clicked in a certain order.

  • Beating a boss now spawns yellow paper particles all over the screen--losing will instead spawn red ones.

Character Poses

The Final Boss

  • Changed the surface to black cardboard.

  • The whole surface now shifts with the line boil animation.

Max

  • Added a new angry pose, which is used before he faces the final boss.

  • Redrew his face on the weapon holding poses.

  • Added sticky tape to the phone pose.

Okaby

  • Changed the surface of his smiling pose to orange cardboard.

Sora

  • Added a new pose of her holding the snapped bat--this one has color.

  • Added a new hurt pose--this one has her eyes closed.

  • Replaced the text on the :/ pose with a little doodle.

Scribbles

Added three new scribbles to Episode 5:

  • A city silhouette with a red sky.

  • Max searching for Naomi through the city.

  • Max finding Naomi.

Some improvements had been made to existing scribbles:

  • Recolored Max grabbing Sora.

  • Added angry eyes to the zombie when she's biting Ms. White

  • Recolored Sora stabbing the climbing zombie.

  • Redrew Naomi grabbing Max's hand.

  • Added a recolored alt of Ryan cornering Max.

  • Max's greyscale eye has increased contrast.

  • Recolored Max and Naomi Seeing the final boss's shadow on the hallway wall.

  • Redrew the final boss appearing.

  • Redrew Naomi's hand while she's thinking.

  • Added scribbly lines to the background of the airport.

Misc

Pastel Filter

  • A filter has been added over the game to give it a pastel color palette.

Backgrounds

  • The roof background is now darker when it's night time.

UI

  • Added a dialogue box closing animation.

  • Some other small tweaks.

The game will also go on sale in two weeks for the Steam Winter Sale ~ so make sure to add it to your wishlist if you haven't got it yet! I'll do another post when the sale starts...

PS. I've been working really hard on three new games, including a spiritual successor to this game. I hope you get to see, and play, them soon....
