changedWe are excited to announce the release of the DCS: La-7 , developed by OctopusG in partnership with Eagle Dynamics. This iconic WWII fighter arrives in DCS with a highly detailed 3D model and cockpit, accurate systems, and authentic flight performance. The Lavochkin La-7 entered service in 1944, and it quickly became one of the top Soviet fighters on the Eastern Front thanks to its airspeed, climb rate, and powerful 20 mm cannons. This will make an exciting addition to your expanding DCS WWII warbirds collection.
addedAlongside the launch of the DCS: La-7, this update delivers a broad set of improvements across the DCS core and its modules. Highlights include expanded Data Transfer Cartridge mission-planning tools for the DCS: F-16C Viper and DCS: F/A-18C , numerous fixes and refinements for the Viper and AH-64D, updates to the Mirage F1, and others. Also included is ongoing work on several core systems. Read more in the full changelog found here. We are making steady progress across several modules. For the DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum , we are refining systems, improving the Infrared Search and Track System, and updating both the cockpit and external models. The DCS: F/A-18C is receiving continued work on its Multi-Sensor Integration, bringing better track management and sensor fusion. For DCS: Supercarrier , you can look forward to new 1MC announcements and clearer carrier landing cues with improved IFLOLS positioning and visibility.

DCS: La-7 Release!

By OctopusG

OctopusG, in association with Eagle Dynamics, is excited to introduce the DCS: La-7. OctopusG has worked hard to create an incredible simulation of the “Fin” that includes a beautiful 3D model and cockpit, historically accurate system modelling, and flight-model performance. The La-7 is a World War II Soviet single-engine piston fighter that was developed by the Semyon Lavochkin design bureau. It was an evolution of the Soviet La-5 series of fighters that significantly improved the design. Entering service in 1944, the La-7 became one of the most effective and refined Soviet fighters of the Eastern Front.

Featuring improved aerodynamics, reduced weight, and enhanced engine cooling, the La-7 had significantly increased speed and climb performance. Armed with powerful 20 mm cannons, it proved highly capable against contemporary German fighters such as the Messerschmitt Bf 109 and the Focke-Wulf Fw 190.

The La-7 underwent multiple improvements and modifications throughout its service life, further enhancing its combat effectiveness. It became one of the most respected Soviet fighters during the final stages of the war and remained in service into the early 1950s.

It stood out from many of its contemporaries for its compact dimensions, refined aerodynamics, and exceptional performance at low and medium altitudes. Its lightweight wooden construction, combined with a powerful radial engine, gave the La-7 outstanding speed, climb rate, and maneuverability, making it a highly respected dogfighter. It could turn with the best of them. This module’s flight model provides an authentic and accurate simulation of the aircraft’s real flight characteristics, including engine management, energy retention, and the challenges of tail-dragger handling.

Key Features:

  • Detailed, accurate, and fully animated 3D aircraft model.

  • Highly detailed and fully interactive cockpit with 6DoF support that shines in virtual reality.

  • Detailed damage modelling, historic liveries, and provision for both air-to-air and air-to-ground attack weapons.

  • Realistic simulation of aircraft systems that include engine, fuel, electrical, pneumatic, and armament systems.

  • Authentic modeling of radial engine operation and cooling management.

  • Instant action and interactive training missions.

  • La-7 pilot guide.
