The new expansion takes you to various locales, such as the magical forest of Arborea:

You will fight more powerful foes, and often you will get to talk to them before combat (and sometimes you may be able to avoid combat altogether!):

When combat does happen, you'll have strong options at your disposal, including such epic spells as chain lightning, power word stun or summon archmage:

And on downtime between adventuring, you'll be able to improve your homebase by building more rooms and enhancements. In addition to crafting, you'll also be able to enjoy downtime for real by reading books in the library or spending time with your heroes and allies in slice-of-life side scenes:
