Firstly we'd like to say thank you very much to everyone that has wishlisted our game so far, we've had our page live for 2 weeks now, and the response has been brilliant. Its wonderful to see there are so many people excited about our Darts game!
We're going to be posting updates every couple of weeks, so today we're kicking off with a behind the scenes look at some of the work that's been going on since our last post:
Coaster Design
We're implementing an in-game coaster/card based boost system to our darts matches, meaning you can give your self a little boost, or even put off your opponent at crucial moments. We want the darts matches to have a more arcade feel to them, a bit more fast paced, and a bit more fun and random. Check out some of the artwork we've designed so far, try and guess the potential effect applied for each one!
Title design
To aid in the 'arcade' feel to our darts matches, Rich has started mocking up various title screens for the intro and outro to the matches. We're trying to go for a street fighter-esque look to them. On top of that, our outro screen which is displayed once someone wins the game will show stats from the game, including a few silly stats for particularly un-exciting games!
Help system Rob has been hard at work implementing a help system to the darts matches, its optional, but if you get stuck and don't know what to hit next, you can hit the H key and the segment of the board you need will be highlighted in yellow. As well as that, you can find a checkout route tip below the board.
Website design DartsRPG.com is currently a redirecting to our youtube channel, so Nat has been hard at work putting together initial designs for the website. While our initial site will be quite basic, we eventually hope to host a live leaderboard system on here so you can see how your darts player is faring against players around the world. You'll also be able to find a roadmap where you can see everything we have planned in the future, and a rough timescale.
Over the next couple of weeks, we'll be starting to flesh out the darts game mechanics more, and also continue designing assets and NPC's to bring the town to life.
Thanks!
Rich, Rob and Nat.
