Danu: Rise of the Templars changes
Hello Adventurers,
It’s time for another dev update before we all head out for some well-earned summer adventures. The Vikings are dusting off their longships, the Dragon Raiders are soaring off into the skies, and the rest of you — well, there’s always a sturdy horse… or an extremely confused sheep ready to carry you to your favorite holiday spot. 🐑
Let’s dive into what the team has been working on over the past two months!
We know RPG players love two things: getting lost in mysterious places and leveling up while doing it. So we’ve carved out a few new cave systems - one echoing the Egyptian roots of Templar lore, and another steeped in Inquisitor fire magic.
They’ll be hard to find and even harder to survive - so bring a torch, sharpen your blade, and maybe kiss your gear goodbye just in case. Here’s a small sneak peek:
Expect riddles and ghosts. Expect fire spiders, lava traps, and the occasional scream that may or may not be yours.
Oh — and let’s not forget the new werewolf boss location we’ve been howling over. 🐺
Let’s just say… May was definitely the month of world expansion - and your enemies didn’t take any vacation.
June, on the other hand, was all about preparing the stage. We’ve scattered multiple new “Robin of In-the-Hood” style camps across the wilderness - perfect for ambushes, banter, or just stealing apples. 🍎
We also placed several Templar outposts, which will soon serve as key quest hubs, lore points, and occasional last-chance respawn locations (you’ve been warned).
But before we dive (pun intended) into the long list of technical improvements, we’ve got something a little more... scaly to show you.
Meet the early-stage version of the Druidic Water Dragon - yes, it dives through rivers, soars through the skies, and poisons entire areas just because it can. And yes... only Druids can tame it. So if you're not one yet, you might want to rethink your career path.
Avalon MMO now features 72 unique enemy types - a number that places us alongside genre leaders like Guild Wars, Final Fantasy XIV, Elder Scrolls Online, and Black Desert in terms of variety.
Not bad for an indie studio with a dream (and too much coffee). Some of these enemies will challenge your every move. Others… like the one ghoul who keeps flinging himself off cliffs every few minutes — well, let’s just say he’s not the brains of the undead operation.
Bug Squashing, Bread Baking, and Beast Taming - Just Another Month in Avalon:
🛠️ Bug Fixes & Improvements
Altar Quests: Now work properly; all altars on the map are fully functional.
- Character BugFixed bug where characters could interact with themselves.
Inventory UI: Item names and availability now properly centered.
Vendors: Show correct owner names.
Portals: “Unclaim” button only shows if you have access; interaction is now instant.
Doors, Gates & Signs: Respond immediately when interacted with.
- Mills & Harbor MansionCan now be interacted with; ownership bugs fixed.
- Duplicate RewardsFixed issue causing players to receive the same reward twice.
- Lady & Son QuestFully restored; son's location and animations updated.
- Quest TextMultiple quests have updated or corrected dialogue.
- Quest RewardsSeveral quests have rebalanced or corrected rewards.
- Backend FixesImproved data loading, redirectors, and internal cleanup.
🐴 Mounts
Collision Fixes: Mounts won’t spawn inside walls or strange locations.
Spawn Failures: If spawning fails, a message shows and the mount is unequipped.
Dismount Fixes: No more falling through the floor; dismounts now use valid locations.
🧟 Enemies & AI
- GhoulsNo more sliding punches; added impact FX.
Troll (WIP): Continued tuning and improvements.
- Enemy MovementFixed bugs where enemies would get stuck, stop chasing, or become unkillable.
Combat Logic: More reliable enemy behavior during combat and patrol.
⚔️ Raids
Tracking: Enemy/wave/timing stats now track accurately.
UI: Raid info displays and updates correctly in real time.
🍞 New Items
Yeast – Needed to bake bread.
Honey Milk – Ingredient for honey bread.
Strawberries – Used in berry bread.
🧩 Other Improvements
Interaction Accuracy: More precise targeting when interacting with world objects.
UI Layouts: Cleaner visuals for profile and portal windows.
