DA_RL The End Update is out now!

This is the largest update to DA_RL since launch. The game has been completely rebuilt from the ground up, and the full ending is finally here.

changedEngine RebuildDA_RL has been completely rewritten in MonoGame. The game runs better, looks sharper, and is more stable than ever before. This rebuild also opens the door for improvements and content that were not possible before in the Unity version.
addedThe EndingDA_RL now has a full ending. The depths of the dungeon hold secrets that were never there before. Hunt down powerful minibosses, uncover the fragments of a legendary relic, face a true final challenge, and find out if you have what it takes to ascend.
removedDungeon RegionsThe dungeon is no longer one uniform place. As you descend, the world around you changes. Five distinct regions now span the depths, each with their own look, atmosphere, and dangers. The further you go, the worse it gets.
addedLoreThe game now has lore and a small story. The player's name, town, and world is procedurally generated. Thanks to Amber for the code.
addedCRT FilterAn optional CRT scanline filter can be enabled in the options menu. It looks great. You can change how intense the filter is, my favorite is unreadable.

This is the largest update to DA_RL since launch. The game has been completely rebuilt from the ground up, and the full ending is finally here. This update adds a story, a massive amount of new content, and sweeping improvements across the board.

Note: Save files from the previous version are not compatible.

Engine Rebuild

DA_RL has been completely rewritten in MonoGame. The game runs better, looks sharper, and is more stable than ever before. This rebuild also opens the door for improvements and content that were not possible before in the Unity version.

The Ending

DA_RL now has a full ending. The depths of the dungeon hold secrets that were never there before. Hunt down powerful minibosses, uncover the fragments of a legendary relic, face a true final challenge, and find out if you have what it takes to ascend.

Dungeon Regions

The dungeon is no longer one uniform place. As you descend, the world around you changes. Five distinct regions now span the depths, each with their own look, atmosphere, and dangers. The further you go, the worse it gets.

  • The Entrance Hall (Floors 1-5)

  • The Upper Warrens (Floors 6-10)

  • The Deep Dark (Floors 11-15)

  • The Sunken Vaults (Floors 16-22)

  • The Abyss (Floors 23+)

Minibosses and Final Boss

Minibosses roam the dungeon for the first time. They are tougher than anything you have faced before and each one guards a shard to the Amulet of Ascension.

Lore

The game now has lore and a small story. The player's name, town, and world is procedurally generated. Thanks to Amber for the code.

Hall of Fame

Every run is now recorded. Your scores, your deaths, and your victories are all saved to the Hall of Fame, accessible from the main menu.

CRT Filter

An optional CRT scanline filter can be enabled in the options menu. It looks great. You can change how intense the filter is, my favorite is unreadable.
