changedSome of the performance improvements absolutely need a CPU instruction that is officially not available in Windows 7. Since Microsoft has ended their support for Windows 7, I have decided to end it in favor of better performance.
changedSpecifically, the next version of the game will have an option to often or always reuse RAM internally instead of returning it to the operating system. This significantly improves performance on systems with many cores, which are getting more common these days. For this to work, I need the InterlockedCompareExchange128 function, which is not officially supported on Windows 7. It may still work - it does on my old laptop - but there is no guarantee.
changedI am sorry for the inconvenience this may cause. But honestly, if you still use Windows 7, you should probably upgrade for security reasons alone.
