Crown of Kings – Demo Update v0.28
Polishing Act I & Facing the Lich King
This update brings Act I of Crown of Kings closer to completion. The focus has been on polishing, world detail, and finishing the long-awaited Lich King boss battle — the true climax of the first act. Alongside new battle arena, functional systems, and visual/audio polish, this is one of the most substantial updates yet.
The Lich King Battle – Act I Finale
True Boss Arena: The Lich King is no longer just an intro cutscene — he’s a fully-fledged Act I boss.
New Quest Giver: Appears after completing all 4 Act I quests, sending you to the mountaintop ritual site.
Protective Sphere Mechanic: Lich King cannot be damaged directly — destroy 5 magical devices (Fire, Cold, Poison, Acid, Earth) using imbued weapons to weaken him.
Summoning Chaos: The Lich King raises waves of skeletons, zombies, mummies, deadguard, wights, slime fiends, and more. Force Field and Mass Death scrolls become invaluable here.
Final Clash: Once the devices fall, the Lich King’s shield shatters — it’s you vs. the King. Defeat him, and all his minions die with him.
Arena Features
Acid pit hazard that punishes leaving the battle area.
Repurposed ritual circle from the game’s intro (the well is still there, now with secret functionality).
Panoramic view overlooking the village below.
Hidden treasure chests and easter eggs (including 5 rare imbued scimitars and Mass Death scrolls).
Post-Battle World Changes
Mountaintop storm dissipates, replaced by peace once the Lich King is slain.
Reactivating the quest resets storm effects and Lich King’s presence.
Switching back to earlier quests cancels the Lich King encounter, restoring peace.
Hidden Quests & Quest Items
Escape Route (Secret Quest):
Triggered by jumping into the ritual well during the boss fight.
Starts you deep in the dungeon on Floor 3 with objectives (collect skulls, slay mummies).
Reward: 6,000 silver if completed — but simply finding an exit still gets you home alive.
The Lich King’s Crown (Quest Item): Must be looted from the Lich King and returned to the quest giver to complete the quest.
Ship Captain – Act II Tease
After defeating the Lich King, you’ll be reminded to visit the Ship Captain in town.
He’s functional as an NPC but travel to Act II is disabled (for now).
Narrative setup: he offers to take you across the sea, back to your homeland where greater darkness awaits.
Documents & Imbues
Map Documents: Fully functional — reveal dungeon maps, chest locations, and hidden keys.
Unique Document Visuals: Maps, parchments, deeds, blueprints, and scrolls now have unique textures (visible in dungeons, on merchant shelves, and when dropped). No more guessing which is which!
Finding Imbue Items: Imbues scale with dungeon depth:
Floor 1 = 1 imbue item
Floor 2 = 2 imbue items
Floor 3 = 3 imbue items … etc.
Encourages deeper dungeon exploration instead of farming Floor 1 repeatedly.
Village & NPC Updates
Gossip Evolution: Villagers now update their dialogue after each quest, reflecting how your actions change the village.
Flowers & Shrooms Clean-up ~5,000 props revisited in the village — cleaned up buried/misaligned vegetation for more realism.
Audio & Music Overhaul
Organic Animal Sounds: Bees, chickens, pigs, cows, horses, and footsteps now bring the world to life.
Dynamic Dungeon Music:
Intense combat tracks when enemies spot you.
Eerie exploration tracks when sneaking through halls.
Unique tracks for character select and the village.
Replaces placeholder acoustic tracks with a polished, reactive music system.
