Durability System Launching This Friday

This Friday, alongside the release of Murder, we are introducing a brand new Durability System for combat gear.

As previously outlined in our development roadmap, our focus is to deepen existing systems while building strong foundations for future expansion. Durability is the first major step in that direction.

Weapons

All weapons will now have durability ranging from 0 percent to 100 percent.

Durability will directly affect:

  • Bullet Efficiency Worn weapons require more bullets for the same attack, increasing attempt costs.

  • Reliability Lower durability increases the chance of weapon jams, which can cause failed attempts and wasted resources.

  • Backfire Interaction Durability now plays a role in backfire scenarios. A worn weapon increases the chance your counter shot fails.

  • 0 Percent Durability If a weapon reaches 0 percent, it becomes unusable until repaired.

Weapon durability decreases through combat usage, with larger bullet attempts causing faster wear.

Weapons can be repaired in your Hideout using materials collected through normal gameplay.

Protection

Protection now also has durability.

  • High durability performs close to full strength. • Low durability reduces effectiveness. • Heavily worn protection may not absorb damage as expected, even if equipped.

Protection loses durability when you sustain damage, including from failed criminal jobs.

Like weapons, protection can be repaired in your Hideout.

Repair Materials

Repairs require materials gathered through regular gameplay. Maintaining a supply will allow you to recover quickly after combat and avoid running broken gear.

System Adjustments

To better align with this new direction, detective tailing times after a player has been found have been significantly reduced. The previous twelve hour window did not fit the pacing and balance we are targeting.

Looking Ahead

This is Phase 1 of the expanding Hideout and Inventory system.

Durability lays the groundwork for deeper mechanics, including:

  • More meaningful inventory management • Smarter resource planning • Long term gear strategy • Expanded Hideout functionality

We are introducing these systems in stages to ensure each layer adds depth without overwhelming the core gameplay.

A preview of the durability interface can be seen below. Please note that UI adjustments are still in progress.

More details will follow with the full release this Friday.
