What is CrimeBloc?

CrimeBloc is an 18-year-old text-based mafia game. Yes — you read that right. We have been running this thing for nearly two decades.

Over that time, the game has grown in depth (and a little bit of character… and dust). Some features were designed in a different internet era entirely — but that is also part of the charm.

Now that we are live on Steam, we are not just sitting back. We are taking this opportunity to overhaul the entire game’s code. This is not just a facelift — we are rebuilding the core of CrimeBloc to make it faster, more stable, and 100x better for players.

And yes — that also means deeper Steam integration coming soon:

• Better achievement handling

• Richer presence and status

• Improved UI/UX across desktop, mobile and Steam

The current round is the beginning — the future of CrimeBloc is already in progress.

Fixing the Old Bones

Before diving into this round’s new features — a quick note: When a game has run for 18 years, there is bound to be a few bugs lurking in dark corners. We have spent the first half of 2025 cleaning house:

✅ 83 Enhancements ✅ 109 Changes ✅ 67 Bug Fixes

That is 259 updates rolled out so far this year. Some fixed bugs players had simply learned to live with. Some polished the game ready for its Steam debut. The result: CrimeBloc is in the best shape it has been in years — with a complete code overhaul underway to take it even further.

This Round: What’s New?

The big one: PVE has been removed. We are moving to a unified system and adding a reputation mechanic to Murder in the coming weeks. The streets will be dangerous — but every action will have consequences.

Other key changes:

• Hitman now usable once per week (and it costs more) • Credits to Bullet conversion price increased • Offline Progression added to Auto Theft & Crimes (disabled first week) • St Petersburg added as a new city • Linked Account System — no more re-signing up after death • Organised Crime timers reduced to 12 hours • OC payouts lowered • Leveling is slower to improve pacing • New Weekly OC (10 players) — launches every Friday • Upvote & Downvote added to posts/comments • Extort button added to profiles • Lottery now shows 3 winners + updated payouts • 10% of money from weekly player kills boosts Lottery jackpot • Bullet stats now on Game Stats page • Leaderboards reactivated & improved • Buffed bullets payouts from Operations • Lowered Life Insurance EXP return

What We Are Building Next

The dev team is now heavily focused on rebuilding CrimeBloc’s codebase — bringing in new systems that will:
