Newly Added Maker Tiles:

  • Hive Mind - Upgrade that enables taking control of Enemies.

  • Gel Ball - Ball that behaves like and moves through Gel Blocks.

  • Enemy Camps/Forts (6) - Dispensers that release the indicated Enemy.

  • Shot Hazard Dispensers (6) - Dispensers that release Fly projectiles.

  • Fatal Bomb Hazard Dispenser - Dispenser that releases lethal Pillbug bombs.

  • Ceiling Lizards (16) - Lizard enemy variations that move across ceilings.

Fixes and Improvements:

Gameplay Adjustments:

  • Player character is no longer knocked back when hit during a Hyperfocus.

  • Damage from environments is now dealt in chunks when not in water.*

  • Slashing Deflect can now also direct projectiles straight up or down.

  • Camera now pans up or down when holding Up or Down while not moving.

  • Play HUD temporarily turns transparent when panning the camera upward.

  • Outlines of single-hit knock-out tiles are now tinged magenta.

  • Improved player jump trajectory when jumping from Climbing Surfaces.

  • Player now grabs Climbing Surfaces more quickly after leaving one.

  • Added player character animations when grappling.

  • Added dust-cloud effects to player character.

  • Updated the animation for air-jump effects on player character.

  • Added jump effects on Enemies and Bosses.

  • Added more effects when Enemies and Bosses are defeated.

  • Added more visual and audio effects for Player knock-out.

  • Added more visual effects to the Start Point and Checkpoints.

  • Added visual effects to Elevating Blocks and Oscillating Blocks.

  • Added visual effect to successful Slashing Jumps and Slashing Deflects.

  • Added visual effect to unlocking Padlock Blocks.

  • Player character now snaps to the Goal Point once reached.

  • Tweaked the speed and animation of deflected projectiles.

  • Reduced the hitbox of Checkpoints, Starting Points, and Goal Points.

  • Reduced the hitbox of Spike Blocks and its variations.

  • Reduced the hitbox of Fire Pits and Air Pockets.

  • Reduced the ground-detection hitboxes on Bat, Fish, and Rabbit enemies.

  • Tweaked the behavior and speed of underwater Drago Wasp projectiles.

  • Limited the maximum speed of Drago Wasp projectiles.

  • Randomized the animation speed of collectable Upgrades.

Maker Mode Adjustments:

  • Limited physics-based tiles per Room to remediate gameplay slowdowns.

  • Checkpoints and most Hazard tiles cannot be placed next to each other.

  • Nested the Boss Compass Upgrade as a Tile Variation of Compass Upgrades.

  • Moved the Bomb Dispenser selection into a new "Hazard Dispenser" selection.

  • Rearranged the Tile Variations layout under the "Dispensers" selection.

  • Added visual effects when placing or removing individual Tiles.

  • Large flood fills now have a screen-shake effect.

  • A checkmark badge now appears after clearing a World Playtest.

  • Clarified affected projectiles in the Slashing Deflect Upgrade description.

  • Tweaked Slashing Deflect Upgrade description to reflect updated behavior.

  • Tweaked Super Shot Upgrade description to reflect Gel Ball tiles.

  • Tweaked Hyperfocus Upgrade description to reflect negating knockback.

  • Tweaked Environment Generator descriptions to reflect updated behavior.

  • Renamed "Dispenser (Bomb)" tile to "Hazard Dispenser (Bomb)".

  • Renamed "Compass" Upgrade tile to "Room Compass".

  • Mouse-hover tile previews no longer show outside of the Room's canvas area.

  • Rearranged the Tile Selection and Starting Items layouts to fit new Tiles.

UI Adjustments:

  • Play categories now appear after selecting New or Continue Game, not before.

  • Most in-game buttons now have minor animations when hovered and clicked.

  • Improved mouse-wheel scrolling speed for World selections on title screen.

  • Popups now move off-screen before transitioning from Playtest into Maker.

  • Health value flashes red when hit, and yellow when taking environmental damage.

  • Health value turns green when standing at a Fire Pit or any type of Checkpoint.

  • Environment icon displays near health if affected by the current environment.

  • Underwater icon displays near health if hindered from being underwater.

  • Now able to back out of Pause menus and submenus when using a gamepad.

  • Updated Controls menu to reflect latest default Steam Deck Layout.

Other Adjustments:

  • Updated bonus Training Stage 16 to include use of the latest tiles.**

  • Added bonus Training Stage 17 to cover Hive Mind gameplay.

  • Tweaked the sprites of the Dash Boots and Super Dash Boots upgrades.

  • Updated the text that displays upon clearing a bonus Training Stage.

  • Behind-the-scenes refactoring to help improve game performance.

  • Added support for PlayStation controllers***.

Bug Fixes: "Fixed a bug where..."

  • player character could behave unexpectedly during Goal transitions.

  • some actions could delay instead of cancel when player character is hit.

  • movements of some Enemy types were very slow when first spawning in.

  • highlighted text for New World name entry was difficult to see.

  • Elevating Blocks could randomly turn around mid-travel.

  • Penguin enemies could continuously oscillate above and below water.

  • Rabbit enemies could not jump through Sidestepping player character.

  • Rabbit enemies had the potential to air-jump when pressed against a wall.

  • Frog Fly projectiles would move incorrectly whenever the Frog enemy moved.

  • all deflected projectiles were using Bee sprites.

  • Drago Wasp projectiles could sometimes phase through walls.

  • Goal Points would not trigger when Proximity Warping directly onto them.

  • Proximity Warp visual effects were not displaying properly.

  • shatter effects on blocks with custom sprites were sometimes too large.

  • shadow effects could sometimes lag behind their shadow casters.

  • certain conditions could speed up flashing effects from environmental damage.

  • spamming the Playtest button in Maker Mode could corrupt the current Room.

  • Maker Tile placement would not work with some Steam Deck input settings.

  • the default Steam Deck Layout would not properly load for the Demo version.

  • texture artifacting could appear on the Title screen's background filter.

*Previously, environmental damage was always applied immediately for each single hit point (this is unchanged when underwater). After this update, when not underwater, environmental damage is applied in chunks of 5/10/20 hit points, depending on the severity of the environment. The overall damage over extended times is equivalent before and after the update. **Because Training Stage 16 has been updated, it must be started as a New Game first before it can be launched through Continue Game again. ***In-game text will still display controller inputs in Xbox format (A, B, X, Y, etc).
