addedWelcome to Crawlyard Devlogs ! These weeks have been extremely busy for us, but we managed to make plenty of powerful changes, introduce new concepts to the gameplay, work on UI and story (enough to dedicate an entire update to each!) and now steadily continue to add more material to the game.
fixedRoom layoutAnd here's how we decided to change it. Some "filler" rooms are now randomly fixed in place, and you can modify them with actual " affectors " – cards that make all these intricate combos work. The player will still have plenty of strategical and tactical freedom in how they build the scene, now with fewer monotonous actions.
addedPreparation stageThere's also a new preparation stage before each room cluster where you can pick your active hero, manage your deck and customize items. It will take a couple more tests to determine the optimal length of animations and other graphical flourishes so this stage is both concise yet striking, but the core concept is working nicely.
changedNew roomsOur Mansion had hosted countless performances in the past, until it became able to mix and match different scenes on its own. Even within certain themes, or " biomes ", there will be plenty of room variations for you to rest your eyes on. Here's less than 10% of the rooms you will see in the demo alone, and the whole game will have even more to offer!
fixedAfterwordAnd that's all for this update. Our sight is firmly fixed on our next important milestone: Steam Next Fest , an event celebrating indie games all over the world. The demo will be ready quite some time before it, but it just gives us extra weeks of tuning and polishing so our game can truly shine alongside all other gems. Good luck, and see you soon! Room layout

Certain actions often become a chore after a few hours of repetition. So our tech guys decided to work on the game flow a bit and cut on unnecessary hustle. Here's what it looked like before, when you had to drag every room card one after another to determine your run's layout:
