addedShields! An update with "defensive" in the name certainly has something to do with defense. Introducing shields! With this update also come new inventory slots dedicated to shields. The number on the top left is a new stat: Armor! It determines how much damage is blocked by something physical, such as direct enemy damage or a projectile, and has no effect on damage taken by status effects such as Burning or Poison. (Note, Stone shields have 5 armor and 504 durability after a rebalance instead of 8 and 630 as seen in the screenshot) There are also several different types of shields as well for each ore, each giving varying amounts of armor to the player, and different durability amounts, and if an enemy damages the player, the shield absorbs some of it! Functionality The new shield system computes damage in a proportional manner. The higher the armor stat, the less damage the player takes, but proportional. At 62 armor, the player will take roughly half as much damage as a player at 0 armor, so if an enemy deals 50 damage, the player will take 25 damage. The amount of durability lost from damage can also vary depending on inflicted damage and armor, usually below, but close to the inflicted damage.
addedMajor enemy rebalance!Alongside the new shields, the amount of damage that mid to high tier enemies deal is now much higher to go alongside the new shields, sometimes double or even triple their original damage apart from lower tier ones such as the Plain Slime. Here's the revamped damage of a Large Molten Slime for instance. It has the same AI as before, but now able to one-shot any unshielded cosmorist, even at full health!
changedSpaceship weight rebalance!Due to spaceships being fairly restrictive in most cases with the weight system in what players can bring, players are now able to carry 10x more weight on their spaceships, while still applying some pressure for players to leave some items behind! Here's an example of the 10x higher spaceship capacity, and the inventory:
changedSpaceship weight rebalance!Controls Players can now place or break tiles when the cursor is far from the player, intended for the Steam Deck. Added the ability to move around in the tech tree and world map with WASD keys, intended for the Steam Deck. Clicking on the map icon at the bottom-right will now show the map, intended for the Steam Deck. Enemies + Lava Hurler ~ Doubled animation frame count for Plains Slime from 6 to 12. ~ Increased animation frame count for Large Molten Slime from 2 to 16. ~ Increased number of Molten Slimes spawned from the death of Large Molten slimes from 2-3 to 3-4. ~ Increased Molten Slime damage to 90. ~ Increased Rock Slime damage to 40. ~ Increased Frostbitten Slime damage to 25. ~ Increased Lush Slime damage to 16. ~ Increased Dark Slime damage to 45. ~ Increased Large Lush Slime damage to 60. ~ Increased Large Molten Slime damage to 150. ~ Increased Cave Bat damage to 30. ~ Increased Pulsating Watcher damage to 75. ~ Increased Flying Beating Leaf damage to 60. ~ Increased Pulsating Dark Goo damage to 45. ~ Increased Flaming Spirit damage to 80. ~

Shields!

  • An update with "defensive" in the name certainly has something to do with defense. Introducing shields! With this update also come new inventory slots dedicated to shields. The number on the top left is a new stat: Armor! It determines how much damage is blocked by something physical, such as direct enemy damage or a projectile, and has no effect on damage taken by status effects such as Burning or Poison. (Note, Stone shields have 5 armor and 504 durability after a rebalance instead of 8 and 630 as seen in the screenshot)

There are also several different types of shields as well for each ore, each giving varying amounts of armor to the player, and different durability amounts, and if an enemy damages the player, the shield absorbs some of it!

The amount of durability lost from damage can also vary depending on inflicted damage and armor, usually below, but close to the inflicted damage.

Major enemy rebalance!

  • Alongside the new shields, the amount of damage that mid to high tier enemies deal is now much higher to go alongside the new shields, sometimes double or even triple their original damage apart from lower tier ones such as the Plain Slime.
