The final major version of the Corinne Demo is available now! New CGs, new choices, new features!
Past saved games are not compatible with this version, due to additional features that require initializing things at the beginning of the game. Apologies about that! If you try to load a save from a previous version, it will likely give you an error.
With that out of the way, here's everything that's new!
NEW CONTENT
There's a new CG in Chapter 2 when entering the Mini-Mart on Floor 1.
There's a new CG in Chapter 2 when meeting Jake on the second visit to Floor 2.
There's a new CG in Chapter 2 when meeting Ethan and Charlie in the Mini-Mart.
Police tape has been added outside an apartment on the 4th floor. Corinne can inspect it during Chapter 2.
Corinne has new dialogue options in Chapter 3 when talking to Malcolm. Your choice influences what happens later.
If you do things in chapter 3 in a certain order, you can gain access to even more options when talking to Malcolm. (Hint: Don't go to the 4th floor right away. Corinne needs to gather some information before confronting Malcolm.)
There's a new CG in Chapter 4 when meeting Ray on the second visit to Floor 2.
NEW FEATURES
You can now get story recaps at any save point after Chapter 1.
Story recaps have been made more specific on what to do next to advance the story.
The lockpicking minigame has been added, with an option to skip it if you're have trouble with it.
Footstep SFX has been added, starting in Chapter 4. It was requested by many players, but it feels a little immersion-breaking to me, so I made it pretty quiet as a compromise.
Steam Achievements have been added. Enjoy getting shiny pictures for playing the game!
QUALITY OF LIFE IMPROVEMENTS
Corinne's walking speed has been increased in the hallways of Chapters 1 - 3.
Hunger takes effect properly in Chapter 4, where it begins to matter.
Corinne sneezes 30% less frequently in Chapter 3.
The sneeze animation is much faster after the first sneeze.
This should hopefully encourage more exploring in the early chapters, because players missed a bunch of optional scenes, especially in Chapter 3.
The dialogue tutorial has been improved from the original tutorial that was added last-minute.
The end of Chapter 1 is now properly marked. A bug in the script prevented the notice from appearing.
On slower machines, graphics will (likely) no longer glitch if they don't load in time. If they still do, I apologize. 🙏
COMING IN THE FULL GAME
You'll be able to choose which food Corinne eats. I would have loved to include this in the demo, but there's a lot of effort that needs to go into the food system that just isn't done yet.
You'll be able to review Corinne's items at save points. This was highly-requested, and I'll make sure it happens!
Chapters 5 - 8 will be available on launch.
Chapters 9 - 12 will come the next year as a free addition to the full game.
Chapters 13 - 15 will come the following year to finish the story, and will also be free.
