It's been quite a few years since this version of Containment Initiative has received an update, so I figured it was long overdue to get some of the content that the VR original received over the past 4 years. I plan on having at least one more major update in the coming month or two where I bring over the two additional missions that are missing from this version: Checkpoint and Sewers.

Features:

New Muzzle Flash Effects

  • A big improvement has been made to the muzzle flash effects when firing weapons.

Visual Redesigns

  • New lighting, fog, and architecture has been added to the Bridge and Midtown maps.

New Bridge Map:

Old Bridge Map:

Weapon Handling Improvements

  • In an effort to make the weapons feel more satisfying to use, their fire rate has been increased and their reload speed quickened.

New Ability: Aim down sights

  • The player can now use the right mouse button/left trigger to aim down the sights to shoot distant enemies.

Optimization

  • Performance optimizations have been made across all maps.

Menu Redesigns

  • The menu is now more readable and has a more modern design.

Old Menu:

New Menu:

Explosive Canisters

  • Explosive canisters now spawn in some levels

Improved Reload Animations

  • Pistols now have improved animations when there is no round chambered.

New Post Processing Effects

  • Improved image quality with Depth of Field, Color Correction, and Bloom

Weapon Audio Overhaul

  • Each weapon now has multiple firing sounds that it can emit. It really adds a lot more realism to the game. The new audio is professionally recorded and ended up being miles better than what was currently in the game.

New Enemy: Armored Zombie

  • His armor plating makes him a very tough target to take out. His body armor prevents you from knocking him back as well. In addition to the armor, some carry smoke grenades on their shoulders. If you accidentally hit the smoke grenade, it will set off and spray smoke everywhere

Steam Achievements

  • 10 achievements have been added to the game.
