Summary Fixes a crash on load for some players after the recent navigation update especially with a custom sidebar layout and the political layer unlocked. The UI could get stuck switching tabs and governance mode until the game hit the “Something went wrong” screen (React error #185).

Fixes

  • Stopped governance mode and tab switching from fighting each other on load

  • Fixed “My View” shortcuts stealing focus when they shouldn’t

  • Auto-repair navigation when a layout is broken or stripped too far

  • Politics and Empire workspaces stay reachable on long saves where they should be unlocked

  • Falls back to a safe screen (Weekly Brief) instead of spinning forever when there’s a conflict

What you need to do

Update ConsoleMe in Steam and launch as normal. Your saves and custom layout should be fine.

If you’re still stuck after updating (Plan B) This resets menu/UI settings only — not your saves (those live elsewhere in AppData).

  1. Fully close ConsoleMe

  2. Press Windows + R, paste: [c]%LOCALAPPDATA%\\com.consoleme[/c], press Enter

  3. Delete the whole [c]com.consoleme[/c] folder (or just the [c]EBWebView[/c] folder inside it)

  4. Launch the game again from Steam

Note for other players

This hotfix shouldn’t affect anyone whose game is already working. On very advanced saves, if you had deliberately hidden Politics or Empire, those workspaces may reappear so unlocked endgame content stays reachable, you can hide them again in Customize Navigation if you prefer.
