Mission 2 - Operation Athena

Commandos!

The second mission in the Shadows over Crete DLC takes a different approach to teamwork and coordination. This time, you will need to strategize as the Sapper and Driver start in completely separate areas, each facing their own set of challenges before regrouping for the final assault.

Two Paths, One Objective

At the beginning of the mission, the Sapper and Driver are deployed in different locations. They must each fight their way through enemy territory while finding ways to indirectly support each other. Strategic and well planned use of their abilities allows for cross-map cooperation, creating opportunities to distract enemies, open paths, and set up traps even before the Commandos reunite.

Sabotage and Tactical Chaos

Your main objective is to halt a German convoy by targeting and destroying key infrastructure. The environment becomes your greatest ally: lure larger groups of enemies away from critical positions or reposition them into the line of fire of stationary guns, which the Driver can then turn against the enemy, mowing them down with their own defences.

“It was an interesting challenge to design two separate gameplay spaces that still feel connected,” the team shares.

“Even though the Sapper and Driver start apart, we wanted players to find ways to make them support each other through their unique skills. The hardest part was ensuring that these opportunities are clear and rewarding so that you naturally spot them during your infiltration.”
