Combat Troops VR changes
Hey everyone,
I’m excited to let you know that the latest update has officially been released today! I sincerely apologize for the slight delay—things took a bit longer than expected as I worked to ensure everything was polished and up to the standard you deserve. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding during this time.
This update focuses heavily on enhancing the realism of weapon handling, improving item movement visualization, and ensuring smoother gameplay through extensive code optimizations. Below is a full list of what's been done:
🔧 Changes & Improvements:
Realistic Item Weight Perception: Visual feedback on item weight has been added, reducing hand shake and improving aiming stability. Weapon smoothness has been optimized, eliminating all unintended jitters, while maintaining aiming speed when switching targets. This feature is scalable or can be disabled entirely (though not recommended).
Weapon Enhancements: Improved weapon holding (removing all hand desynchronization with the weapon). Enhanced reloading mechanics for magazines, rockets, and shells (shotguns), with more interactive reloading processes. Chambering improvements for all weapons. A major update to eliminate hand "drift" while handling weapons. Fixed gimbal lock when looking up or down. Adjusted iron sight size for better aiming on most rifle weapons (some sights were too small, making aiming difficult).
Weapon Attachments
Optical scopes can now adjust zoom directly on the weapon by hovering the hand and using the trigger. Reticle types for aperture sights can now be switched without removing the sight from the weapon.
Ghost Attachment Helper
A new helper system to assist with mounting attachments.
Extensive Optimizations: Significant improvements in performance, particularly for player and AI interactions, without visible changes to gameplay. (More optimizations are on the way!)
New Damage Indicator: Now displayed when health drops below 70%.
Tactical GPS Improvements: Enhanced objective icons and health bar. Current objectives now highlighted with a red line while holding the GPS.
Improved Item Grabbing Prioritization.
Grenade Pull Pin Timer: A visual icon has been added to the action, and pulling the pin from a grenade now requires half a second when using the mouth to remove the pin.
Backpack Interaction Fixes: Better hand synchronization when searching through the backpack while moving.
Tutorial Map: The tutorial map will now be skipped at the start if it has already been completed. (If it’s not skipping, simply delete the save file at: [Your drive]\Users[Your name]\AppData\Local\CombatTroopsVR\Saved\SaveGames\Settings.sav).
Reduced Hand Movements for Team Commands: Squad command hand movements have been minimized.
Ammo Count Display: Ammo count will now display when the magazine is pulled out.
Increased Backpack Interaction Range: Extended the distance for stowing items into the backpack icon.
Post-Death Stats Panel: Separated buttons for restarting the game and returning to headquarters after death.
Explosive Object Highlighting: Explosive objects will now be highlighted with a red line.
Other Minor Fixes: Various small improvements to overall gameplay.
