Colonials Programme changes
DISCLAIMER: If you haven't bought the game yet, I advise you to wait until 1st February 10AM PST, when the game will be discounted!!
Hello, once again it's CookieLegends, and I'm very happy and excited to announce the new major update to Colonials Programme!
It's been a month since Colonials Programme has been released, and I have to say that I am very happy about the reception I've gotten so far! It's really been an incredible journey and a life-changing experience for me personally. And I don't think I would have gotten here if it were not for you guys! Seriously, I'm always happy to receive comments, feedback and suggestions from the community and I can't thank you enough for that!
With that said, I believe that it's my turn to give back to all the supporters of the game by releasing the first major update which I have been teasing for a while now! The new In-Game UI is now fully functional and I'm very happy about the results:
I think that the game looks a lot better now, and I have to say that I'm very proud of it! It almost feels like a completely new game to me!
If you paid attention to the screenshot above, you'll see that there are several other improvements made to the game, besides the UI itself. On the bottom-right corner, there's a new panel which shows the machine or terrain you're currently hovering over. I've gotten feedback in the past, that it was difficult for beginners to differentiate the machines and terrain features on the map. So, I think that this is a neat little solution to the problem!
Furthermore, the map itself looks quite different now! I've applied a new toon-shader for the game, and updated the tiles of the map to make them more visually appealing. I hope that you will enjoy the new style of the game as much as I do!
To be honest, the original UI was always meant to be a placeholder while I was developing the game. But during the development phase, I never managed to update it, so it was always rather lacking in my eyes. But, now that the game is released, I've decided to go ahead and update it since I always wanted to do so from the start. In a way, I'm thankful that I put it off, since my artistic skills has improved dramatically, compared to when I was still developing the game.
Of course, there's still a lot more to do; the map editor, main menu, tutorial screens and campaign menu has not been updated. I considered delaying the update to work on these elements as well, but I wanted to quickly release the game, as I have been teasing the update for a while now. Rest assured, that they will be updated to the new UI style in upcoming updates. I hope that you can continue being patient with me!
So now what? Well I wanted to share some of the new ideas and plans I have for Colonials Programme, but this post has gotten quite long by now, so I'll save it for the future! Oh, and just a heads up, if you haven't gotten the game yet, the game will be discounted on 1st February 10AM PST via Steam's Weeklong Deals! So be sure to wait out for it!
Once again, I would like to thank everyone for the support! Stay tuned for future updates, as Colonials Programme will continue being updated for the foreseeable future! Thank you!! :)
