We’re excited to announce that Cloudsea will be launched in Early Access on May 5th, 2026!
Cloudsea is open world action RPG game set in the clouds of the world of Cloudsea. Explore the floating islands in airships, solve quests, gather resources, craft items, trade, and fight in airship-to-airship and melee combat!
Demo
We plan to keep a free demo version available at all times. The demo will be updated alongside the full game, ensuring it reflects the latest improvements and features, but with a more limited amount of content.
If you’re not ready to purchase the full version, the demo still offers a few hours of gameplay and a chance to experience what Cloudsea is all about.
Who are we
We’re a two-person team that originally set out to create a small exploration game featuring low-poly graphics, airships and simple combat. Over time, we kept adding things inspired by the games we love. Along the way, we experimented with many features of which some didn’t make it into the game, while others are planned for the future.
Our goal was to create a world set in an early age of steampunk exploration, where steam technology is still a novelty and only used in certain aspects of life. One thing we’re especially happy with is how the clouds turned out to be both beautiful and, at times, a bit of a challenge (especially at night or in a fight).
This Early Access release marks an important step for us, and we’re looking forward to building the game together with you.
Current state of the game
The game is fully playable and already offers several hours of gameplay. Most of the world is in place, with dozens of islands to explore, quest to solve (main, side and autogenerated), multiple airships to pilot, melee combat, airship-to-airship combat and a wide variety of items, enemies, things to do (trade, craft, upgrade, ...) and locations.
Split screen co-op works, but is still under development and testing. There are some edge cases that needs to be fixed.
The game is still in active development. Some features are incomplete, some islands are stil under development and you may encounter bugs, placeholder assets, placeholder animations or unpolished audio. The game is not very optimized at the moment.
Goals during Early Access
During Early Access, our focus is on improving the overall experience and adding content. This includes adding new islands, new airships, closed levels, locations, quests, and items, as well as refining balance, improving combat, improving airship combat, polishing existing mechanics and optimizations.
We’ll continue iterating based on your feedback and may introduce new systems as development progresses.
Where do we go from here
We have many ideas we’d like to explore and features we’d like to add, and we’ll prioritize them based on player feedback and interest.
At the moment, we’re still deciding where to focus our efforts, whether to expand airship combat, deepen RPG systems, add more puzzles, increase content and world size, or introduce new mechanics such as base building and modular airships.
