changedWe've made a small update to the demo, focused on performance enhancements and some minor bugfixes. Here's the change list:
addedAdded an automatic benchmark feature, available in the Graphics tab of the options menu. This feature will run a brief systems test and change the graphics settings to an appropriate preset based on your results. This should be useful for Steam Deck users especially. A prompt asking if you'd like to use this feature will also appear upon first launch of the game for that device (or if you delete your user settings from the install directory) The autodetect benchmark is fairly cautious, so if you run it but feel like we might be underestimating your machine, go ahead and turn some of the settings back up.
addedEnabled some mistakenly-disabled culling settings that should lead to better performance in the amphitheater.
changedOptimized various geometry in the amphitheater level.
changedImplemented various small battle code optimizations
removedMade the minimum possible pre-set shadow quality no longer have sharp, immersion-destroying pixels

We've made a small update to the demo, focused on performance enhancements and some minor bugfixes. Here's the change list:

  • Added an automatic benchmark feature, available in the Graphics tab of the options menu. This feature will run a brief systems test and change the graphics settings to an appropriate preset based on your results. This should be useful for Steam Deck users especially.

    • A prompt asking if you'd like to use this feature will also appear upon first launch of the game for that device (or if you delete your user settings from the install directory)

    • The autodetect benchmark is fairly cautious, so if you run it but feel like we might be underestimating your machine, go ahead and turn some of the settings back up.

  • Enabled some mistakenly-disabled culling settings that should lead to better performance in the amphitheater.

  • Optimized various geometry in the amphitheater level.

  • Implemented various small battle code optimizations

  • Made the minimum possible pre-set shadow quality no longer have sharp, immersion-destroying pixels

  • Potential workaround for the first-launch dark environment bug many users were having. We weren't able to reproduce the issue exactly, but we're pretty sure we know what was happening.

  • Disabled the issue-prone auto exposure feature from the amphitheater, and put in some nice default exposure settings for each of its lighting scenarios.

  • Fixed Shade's height in the water being too low during gameplay and various cutscenes. Sink or swim, Shade, make up your mind!

Some known issues include the UI not handling ultrawide monitors very well, and some remaining issues with Steam deck, such as requiring the user to manually open the keyboard to enter a profile name. We're working on these and expect to have them in the next update.

That's all for now! Enjoy!
