CLAWPUNK changes
We’re back with another post this time introducing you to those nasty bosses that’ll do everything they can stop you liberating Feral City. We’ll dive into their lore, some of their mechanics, and a few tips to help you bring those suckers down!
BARBARA
The Junkyard Rats Gang Leader
Once a hero to many children, Barbara began her pro-wrestling career as the quintessential “good girl” (babyface), who went on to defeat some of the world’s biggest villains in the squared circle. However, her life took a dark turn when she had unknowingly consumed a large portion of F’s toxin before her latest title defence, thinking it was a new type of energy drink. Enraged, mutated, and suddenly bulked up, she grabbed both her opponent and the referee and smashed them together, killing them instantly. Suddenly, the crowd booed, shocked at their hero turning into a bad girl (heel); they drowned her with jeers until the reality of the murdered athletes transformed them into screams.
Now, she lies in wait until the next victim dares to challenge her.
Mechanics
Barbara has two core attack types: close-range and long-range. If you spend too long up close or from afar, she’ll attempt to switch up her attack pattern. For example, staying too close will increase the chance of her increasing distance, and vice versa. Barbara is very vulnerable to explosions, so use that knowledge to your advantage.
SERGEANT GULL
The Construction Jailbirds Gang Leader
The epitome of discipline and respect, and once a legendary helicopter pilot, Sergeant Ricky McGull commanded a platoon of other gulls who had lost their way but chose a life in the army instead of prison. After retiring, Ricky started a construction company, taking the gulls under his wing to train to become proficient builders. Things took a turn for the worse when F purchased his company in the face of bankruptcy after his uprising and then instructed a second tower for the most wealthy and powerful foes to be built. It would be luxurious and a refuge to keep his friends away from the riffraff. After F’s toxin infected the workers and Ricky himself, they decided to keep the tower for themselves, telling everyone else to keep out, lest they want to be chewed up by Ricky’s most powerful construction tool of all: an attack helicopter armed with rockets and bullets.
Mechanics
Sergeant Gull’s helicopter is especially vulnerable to explosions and gunfire. Just be careful of the wrecking ball!
DOCTOR CROC
The Sewer Mutants Gang Leader
A legend in the biosciences, Gregory Croc serves as Feral City’s leading scientific advisor. After F’s toxin had been deemed a colossal mistake, Greg ordered him to dispose of it quickly and safely. However, not one to be ordered around, F instead opted to dump the remaining barrels in the Woodlands, assuming they would eventually evaporate. Once reports of glowing goo coming out of people’s taps grew louder, Gregory and his team were sent into the sewers to investigate. However, F thought it best to trap them in there and seal it off, leaving Greg and his teams of interns at the mercy of the mutant ghouls that now roam the tunnels.
Mechanics
You’ll quickly learn that Doctor Croc’s attacks can be quite shocking, and so paying close attention to his attack pattern is key.
GRIM WEAVER
The Woodland Weasels Gang Leader
Once a legendary rave DJ, Gary, but his mates call him “The Grim Weaver”. He spun decks faster than he produced webs. His raves once attracted the worst of the City’s thugs, except that the music stopped them from fighting each other and instead brought a sense of collective worship. However, the source of Feral City’s water supply, F’s dumped toxin crept its way through the Woodlands and into Gary’s rave pipe that connects the dense forest to the sewers. Now infused with rage and fully consumed by his DJ name, the Grim Weaver dances around his victims before smothering them with goo-infested webbing.
Mechanics
The Grim Weaver fight is projectile-based, so it's best you hit the deck and get to cover. As GW can crawl around the environment easily, you better stock up on some ammo and get shootin’ from afar.
MR FUZZLES (F)
The Corporate Dogs Gang Leader
F is the unseen hand behind every catastrophe in CLAWPUNK, a self-proclaimed visionary who sought to “perfect” the world by purging it of weakness. When his experiments with Toxin backfired, the resulting contamination spread across every zone, corrupting the minds of those who breathed it. F vanished soon after, retreating into his private citadel, but his presence lingers everywhere…in the propaganda, the machines, and the whispers of those he twisted. To some, he is a god. To others, a ghost. To the cats, he is simply F, the tyrant who turned their world into a warzone and the ultimate symbol of betrayal.
Mechanics
Now that would be telling!
