Repeated intro

Hello everyone! Sorry for being a bit quiet! We’ve been working hard on something special, and we’re excited to share more details with you later this month.

  • Compatibility
  • Performance
  • Balance
addedWe’ve added several major game mechanics, including:

changedPort A large 3-tile-wide building that unlocks access to trading and expansion. Since the world map is still in a prototype state, for now, it will mainly provide fish for your population.
changedThis demo is solid, includes gameplay, and—most importantly—you can already build an entire city! So, we made the decision: The Technical Demo is coming later this month. (We’ll announce the exact release date in a separate post.)
changed3.2. Important Dates • Technical Demo: March 2025 (Based on the vertical slice version of the game) • Solid Demo: Q3–Q4 2025 (Based on the Alpha version) • Beta Demo: Q4 2025 – Q1 2026 • Full Release: 2026*
addedThese dates are internal plans and may change for many reasons. Examples: • The game doesn’t run smoothly on RTX 3060? We need a few extra weeks for optimization. • A new investor provides more funding? We might improve game quality. • Some mechanics aren’t as fun as expected? Time for a redesign.

1.What We’ve Done in the Past Few Months

We’ve added several major game mechanics, including:

  • Taxation

  • Government System

  • Production Chains

  • Population Simulation

  • and many more

The full list is huge, so instead of writing everything here, take a look at some new game models related to those mechanics;

Capitol: A massive government structure that will drain your resources while allowing you to set up (often pointless and annoying) laws for your citizens—just like in real life!

It is massive, hilariously big—an ideal representation of any government. Of course, leveling it up will unlock more laws while consuming even more goods and taxes.

Port A large 3-tile-wide building that unlocks access to trading and expansion. Since the world map is still in a prototype state, for now, it will mainly provide fish for your population.

Or ordinary Textile Mill

  1. Releasing the Kraken (Technical Demo)

As we discussed internally how to move forward and fix past mistakes, we decided: why not share the current version of the game with you as a Technical Demo?

This demo is solid, includes gameplay, and—most importantly—you can already build an entire city! So, we made the decision: The Technical Demo is coming later this month. (We’ll announce the exact release date in a separate post.)

To show how big and advanced the game already is ( And that's still smt like ~25% of overall game progress )

Both screenshots will be fully recreatable in Technical demo.

Just a small note: This Technical Demo mainly proves that the game works and has potential. However, it still lacks many features—only about 20% of the mechanics are included. It’s like licking a candle through a mirror—there’s a taste, but it’s not the full experience. Still, this early test will allow us to gather feedback from those willing to try it out.

  1. FAQ

3.1 Will There Be Early Access? This is up to our publisher, and no final decision has been made yet. However, we like how Klei and Giant Games handle Early Access so we as a production team we opt in for this way. But like I said, future will bring answer for this question.

3.2. Important Dates • Technical Demo: March 2025 (Based on the vertical slice version of the game) • Solid Demo: Q3–Q4 2025 (Based on the Alpha version) • Beta Demo: Q4 2025 – Q1 2026 • Full Release: 2026*

*These dates are internal plans and may change for many reasons. Examples: • The game doesn’t run smoothly on RTX 3060? We need a few extra weeks for optimization. • A new investor provides more funding? We might improve game quality. • Some mechanics aren’t as fun as expected? Time for a redesign.

Our goal is to make a fun game, not just rush it out. Even if some players lose interest, a good game will speak for itself. A rushed game will remain “mixed” forever.

3.3. What Is City of Atlantis About? Some of you have shared your own ideas about the game, so let’s clarify our vision. City of Atlantis is a semi-grand economic city-building game inspired by classic titles: • Sierra Games (Caesar, Zeus, Pharaoh) • Frostpunk (Not Frostpunk 2) • Anno 1800/Victoria 2 & 3 (For economy, trade, and diplomacy)

With our own unique mechanics that no one has done before. Goal is to create a relaxing yet deep economic city builder. You’ll manage a colony, making it self-sustainable in the long run, with twists along the way. The complexity level will be around:Caesar ++ • Stellaris – Light • Endless Space/Legend ________________________________________ That’s enough talking—time for some screenshots!

Cheers everyone, progress is going well every month, new mechanics are added, more QL, more polishing, more buildings and more fun.

Like always - waiting for your feedback under this post.
