CitaDrill changes
Hey everyone! Huge news today: the first-ever public CitaDrill demo is officially up on Steam and ready to download. This is the most complete slice of the game available until launch.
Here’s what’s waiting for you in the mines:
🌋 A Polished First Act: The early-game regions are fully playable, with enemies, waves, narrative beats, bosses and shopkeepers generating as intended.
🎓 A Fully Integrated Tutorial: We finally teach you how to play instead of throwing you down a hole and hoping for the best. The tutorial covers drilling basics, building placement, Captain quirks, UI and the whole city-survival loop.
🎨 Full Art + Sound Pass for the Opening Acts: Buildings, enemies, UI bits, barks, ambience, hit and damage effects and quick action VFX are all fully implemented.
🐾 Two Bosses, Ready to Ruin Your Day: Each biome now has its own big bad, complete with attack patterns, telegraphs, VFX, and unique damage phases.
🐱 Two Leaders, 4 Layouts: Four distinct starting setups to try out, each with different power curves, early-game puzzle pieces, and build directions. Lean into either the corporate Catssandra, the irradiated Luckless, or both.
📖 Narrative Choices + Feedback System: Your crew finally talks back. The demo includes a bite-sized version of our branching narrative framework, giving you choices with mechanical impact and a glimpse into the weird little world that’s forming around the drill.
If you want to chat with us, report issues or just talk strategy, jump into our Discord. We’ll be hanging around, watching runs, and gearing up for the full 1.0 release.
Thanks so much for checking out the demo.
See you in the deeps ❤️
