First, apologies for the flurry of updates this past spring! Between Vulkan issues, audio crashes, Deck audio dropouts, etc. it seemed like the issues were never ending. However, thanks to the perseverance of a few community members and the amazing folks at the FNA and SDL projects, I think we've finally gotten everything cleared up.
So this update is actually back to some fun stuff! I've added a new Speedrun option for anyone that would like to try and get through the game as quickly as they can. When you begin a new game, enable the option and it will show an onscreen timer that starts once the world generation completes. It will continue to run until you either beat the game or load a different save. This means if you die, the timer keeps ticking and you can reload the last save to continue. You can also customize the color of the timer if you wish via config file (My Documents/Chasm/config.ini):
SpeedrunRGBA=255,255,255,255
Also included in this update are some more tweaks for Arcade mode. There have been a few changes this year to make it more competitive, which means less branching paths and farming, and more focus on player skill and speed. This latest update reduces the points given by minion enemies to fix farming being the dominating strat for the high score. A big shout-out goes to community members Sen and CWX for the testing and feedback.
