Catharage changes
I've pushed a new build that includes the following new features and changes:
Photo Mode (returns)
You can now enable a photo mode from the pause menu. In this mode you can move the camera freely using your controls for Pitch/Roll, Yaw, Throttle, View and Zoom. When activating photo mode, time stops and all UI elements are made invisible. Photo mode uses a traditional WASD+Mouselook setup for movement that may be awkward using custom keybinds, specific photo mode keybinds will come at a later date. Keep in mind that the modifier key used to rotate the camera in normal play is required to move the photo mode camera as well. The mode can be exited by using the respective pause menu option. Note that there is no built-in photo taking function, please use Steam's built-in screenshot option or other capture software.
Be aware
Photo Mode has a technical limitation that I haven't yet been able to fix - when entering photo mode without having the sun in your field of view, its lens flare effect will be missing inside of photo mode. Conversely, when entering photo mode while having the sun in your field of view, its lens flare will be duplicated on the other side of the skybox. This is something I hope to be able to fix before release but remains an issue right now, so I decided to ship photo mode regardless.
- New AchievementsI've added two new achievements: Navigator for those that defeat the demo's final boss, and Shipwright for those who unlock all ships in the demo. These will unlock retroactively, so if you've already done these things just start up the game and they should pop up. Regardless of how you unlock them, you may need to exit Catharage to get the Steam notification.
Dreadnought buffs: The Dreadnought has received a fifth weapon slot as well as slight buffs to its speed and maneuverability. This is intended to help it stand out as a more viable option next to the battleship and mothership, both of which have clearly identifiable strengths that the dreadnought has struggled to match. I'm collecting feedback on the ship-ship balancing and will tweak it further as release nears, so make sure to let me know what you think about your favourite (or least favourite) ships!
I hope you have fun with photo mode and can get some cool shots, and maybe chase one of the new achievements!
