addedI'm happy to announce that I've added a brand new game mode to Canvas Hockey - World Champion! In this game mode, you'll represent a country and face off against 15 other countries in a 4-round, best-of-7 NHL-style playoff tournament. I made this mode to be a special challenge, for the most advanced Canvas Hockey players - especially those who have already mastered the CHL cup!
changedNHL Playoff Style Bracket!First, do your best to see if you can manage to win a World Championship with any country, to unlock the World Champ achievement. Then, the game will continue to keep track of how many world cups you have collected. I have added a new leaderboard on the community page to see who is truly the strongest Canvas Hockey player in the world!
addedNew and Improved Player AI!The one thing I've always been most embarrassed about with Canvas Hockey is the player AI. As many of you probably know, while the AI generally makes decent passing, shooting, and positioning decisions, there is one huge flaw with the player AI: obstacle detection. When I was making the game I made it a personal goal to do everything myself, as much from scratch as possible (i.e., no assets). This is one area where I finally decided it makes more sense to use an existing asset instead of trying to reinvent the wheel. So I've added in Astar pathfinding from Aron Granberg, and I hope you'll agree that the AI in the game is now vastly better!
addedNew and Improved Player AI!In addition to these big updates, I've also added in a few small QOL improvements, including longer player names (up to 20 characters) and the ability to enter a custom goalie name in career mode. You'll also find 4 new country rink canvases: Brazil, Egypt, Australia, and China. I needed these to get to 16 teams for the tournament, but more countries will be added! Please comment on the discussion board if you want to see a specific country added.
