Update Details

Version 1.1.1

  • Fixed several typos in Chapter 3 Trial 2

  • Added alternate answers to puzzles in Chapter 3 Trial 2

  • Fixed several typos in Chapter 3 Trial 3

  • Added additional marker objects to an investigation in the ending

  • Fixed a typo in a Chapter 3 Trial 2 evidence description

  • Slightly increased the speed of Chibi Cross normal and slow dialogue

  • Added an easter egg to the Club Nomad level

Wow, that's a lot of typos! Thanks Alistair! grumble grumble

Just kidding, this is excellent stuff that needed to be polished up and I almost can't believe so many errors got through despite actually having spellcheck this time around! (if you didn't know, the original Burden of Proof game was written without any spelling or grammar algorithm checks, so there are many problems with it... even still to this day) But now there's no excuse for my mistakes, so enjoy these new grammatical corrections :) I'm sure there are even more that have slipped under the radar, so I'll keep an eye out for them.

Additionally, I received some great feedback that one of the investigations in the ending sequence is a bit unclear with which objects you have to inspect to progress. Especially after some problem spots in previous titles (I'm looking at you random security room door in Burden of Proof) (I'm looking at you random crucial table in the Shinogi Chess Club school library) I want to maximize the accessibility of my games, so I added additional details/markers to make the inspect points stand out more. Finally, at the request of a certain Twitch streamer, I've added in a good out-of-bounds joke to the Club Nomad level for anyone who dares to poke around with the debug camera.

As a quick aside, the coming weeks will feature cycling discount periods for all of my games leading up to the release of Paper Perjury Case 6 by our friends over at Paper Cat Games, and Burden of Truth will celebrate with a discount of its own on Feb 22nd! So go check out Paper Perjury:

What's Next

In other news, I'm still hard at work on my next game, though in all honesty it's been quite a struggle with everything going on in the world and my personal life. Though I'm extremely thankful for everyone who supported BOT already, I'm still at a highly unstable place financially, so if there's an opportunity, it would mean a lot if you could continue to recommend the game and leave a review on Steam if you haven't already. Beyond that I'm still trying my hardest to crawl out of this situation, so I hope you'll understand if updates are a bit chaotic or slow for a bit.

I'm working towards gaining confidence in releasing more YouTube videos which has surprisingly been a challenge too, so I'm hoping to finally release my next one within a week, and more this month. I'm trying to figure out the best way to reveal my next game since I'd like to have a Steam page up for that moment but I'm nowhere near close to ready in terms of assets/descriptions. I'm also stuck between the fact that I want this game to have mass appeal and higher levels of polish... and the fact that I need income from it quickly.

I've always avoided going this route but one possibility is putting it aside to make something that is much smaller so that there is some sort of new release to sustain me, but who knows if the bigger project will actually sell better and be more fun to work on which is yet another factor in the decision. I hate that I have to worry about this sort of thing; I'd rather not have money be a concern at all for this creative endeavor, but I hope this has given some insight into what I'm struggling with these days.

But it's not all doom and gloom on that front! Burden of Truth is becoming one of my best selling games and it's a huge honor to be able to say that and know that you guys have enjoyed it <3 And more importantly, I'm proud of what I was able to achieve with it. I'd love to see that momentum continue and I'm always watching out for YouTube playthroughs, Twitch streams, and reviews of the game to see what people think of the series. As always, thanks for playing, and I'll be sure to update you all on Bluesky and everywhere else when I'm nearing an exciting announcement!
