Today is a MASSIVE day for all fans.

The Archive Update is finally here, bringing back lost content, development materials, and a wave of nostalgia.

Here’s what awaits you:

🔥 13 Fully Restored Deleted Levels

Explore cut, lost levels from 2020-2023, now carefully restored and finally fully playable!

🎬 Behind-the-Scenes Materials

Discover development secrets, unused content, and production materials from the project’s history.

This is our biggest content update yet - made for the fans who have supported the project through every stage.

❓ OK. BUT HOW TO ACCESS "THE VAULT"?

When you click on "New Game", you will have the option to play "The Vault" if you have completed the Main Campaign.

You can also force-unlock "The Vault" using the cheat code "JOHNVAULT", but we strongly recommend to play it after you complete Main Campaign.

Mini-Content Update #6 is planned for August 2026.

This update will include new secret level for the Main Campaign, some additional fixes, improvements, and other small content additions.

We want to make sure everything feels polished and works properly, so we need a little more time to continue working on the game. Thank you for your patience and support.

1.0 Release: Coming in Q3 2026.

Since we finished story campaign during releasing several Content Updates, the 1.0 release set for Q3 2026 - is mostly a marketing step, giving us the space to build the visibility for the game and do final small touches to the game.

Developing BRUTAL JOHN 2 with our 3-person team is a huge challenge, but we’re giving it everything we have. Thank you for your continued support! 💪

🛠️ General Changes:

  • Added "The Vault"13 new "cut" levels, concept art, soundtrack, development history materials.
  • Added French, Italian, and German language support.

  • Added an anisotropic filtering setting.

  • Added an FPS lock/unlock setting.

  • Added a setting to disable black outlines (cel-shading).

  • Added PS5 gamepad support.

  • Added 2 new gamepad layouts.

  • Fixed an issue where reloading would still be counted if the player quickly switched weapons during the reload.

  • Fixed issues with some pickups disappearing after loading the game.

  • Enemies no longer fly off in a random direction after death.

  • Reduced the minimum gamepad sensitivity, allowing the player to walk and move the camera more slowly and precisely.

  • Fixed an issue where Dog could play voice lines during dialogues while he was the one speaking.

  • Fixed Luzilian’s attacks during the final phase of the boss fight when playing at low FPS.

Level 2:

  • Fixed floating vegetation after exiting the shop.

  • The glass physics material on the shop ceiling is now correctly set as glass.

  • Disabled the interaction highlight on the refrigerator.

  • Reduced the light brightness in the conference cutscene so Luzilian no longer appears to glow.

  • Removed a seam on the texture of Dog’s booth when using smoothed texture mode.

  • Slightly improved the texture of the metal shelves inside the refrigerator.

Level 3:

  • All stationary spaceships on the level now have their engines turned off.

  • Reduced the light at the very beginning of the level so Jessica no longer glows when leaving.

  • Fixed the lighting in the security room where the lever must be used.

  • Fixed light probes before the exit to the space bridge.

  • Corrected the rotation of the vertical ladder after the Mining Rigs room. Previously, climbing it would push the player in the wrong direction.

  • Improved the textures of the gold shelves in the bank.

  • Added an invisible blocker at the bottom of the train tunnel to hide fallen objects and corpses that fall off the trains.

  • The Money sign before the vault is now properly lit.

  • Added emissive materials to the lamps before the vault entrance.

  • Added an emissive material to the lamp after the train section.

  • Aligned the tile on the steps in the large room during the final cutscene.

Level 4:

  • Fixed the sides of the iron fence tiles on the last train car.

  • Fixed a lighting issue before the entrance to the laboratory train car.

Level 5:

  • Fixed occlusion behind the sofa before the destroyed bridge.

Level 8:

  • Adjusted the lighting on all cable coil models.

Level 10:

  • Fixed light probes in the bar and the bar restroom.

  • Added rats to Roach’s house.

  • Fixed fences at the beginning of the level that were clipping through rocks.

  • Removed a car in Bibix Town that was partially clipping into one of the buildings.

Level 12:

  • The monitor at the beginning of the level no longer glows red.

  • The Dopefish behind the barrels on the right, after exiting the first room, is now easier to see.

Level 13:

  • Fixed a lighting issue after the elevator shaft before the exit to the roof.

Level 14:

  • Fixed a light probe on the door at the entrance to the game shop after the reception area.

Level 16:

  • Fixed the tile on the wall in the room with the easter egg.

Level 18:

  • Added a crosshair during boat gameplay.

  • The low-health warning text is now hidden while the player is in the boat.
