Hi Everyone,
I'd like to announce a preview of things to come to Hotel: Collector's Edition:
For the past 2 years we've been slowly working on porting our old engine to modern platforms. In the process of doing so, we released one of the games we made using the same engine that has been used for the Hotel: Collector's Edition. The game is a platformer game for kids, called"Tibor: Tale of a Kind Vampire", which was originally released in 2009. Check it out here.
These games were made using 'Python' and 'Ogre3D engine' and now the old games run inside our newer engine which we use for most of our other games. Think of it as a sort of a 'virtual machine' for older games.
What this means in short term is that we are planning to port Hotel: Collector's Edition to this new engine. This will immediately bring the following benefits:
The game's 3D models will look much sharper and will be anti-aliased, (no more hard edges)
The game will work on MacOS and Linux
Currently, Windows players have the option to play either the old "Hotel: Collector's Edition" or the newer casual version "Brightstone Mysteries: Hotel", while MacOS and Linux players currently have only the latter. With these changes, both MacOS and Linux players will be able to play both versions. Depending on technical issues, these 2 versions will either be separate games you can choose to launch in Steam, or (hopefully) we'll be able to integrate both versions in one game.
Then you could choose the game mode from within the game: The old "hardcore" version with a 3d character or the newer "casual" version without a movable character but with integrated hints and other modern goodies.
This is just the beginning, the first step in a larger journey of remastering Hotel: Collector's Edition. We have more plans to improve this game in 2025, stay tuned. 🙂
All of these upgrades, like the previous ones - are coming to you as a free update, no DLC and no "Deluxe" or "Remastered" Edition.
