One of the core mechanics in Bot Hunter is its unique Crafting System. It allows you to create a wide variety of guns from simple modules. Everything from Blaster Pistol to Fully Automatic Shotgun Rocket Launcher.

The weapon is a reflection of your progress. You do not level-up, you need to craft better modules instead. It is crucial to understand how weapon modules will interact with each other so we’ve made this Crafting System Overview for you.

Your weapon is made out of 5 modules. Each of them is responsible for different aspects of the weapon.

  1. LightCells - define basic damage and color of weapon’s projectiles

  2. Coolers - define max heat before weapon will overheat and its cooling rate

  3. Triggers - define how your input is handled

  4. Barrels - define how bullet fly out from the weapon

  5. Magazines - define what type of projectile the weapon will shoot

You can combine them freely adjusting the weapon to your needs.

We’ve prepared a short video that explains in detail what each module does and provides some decent module combinations

In case you prefer written text here is quick module overview with examples.

Light Cells

Light Cells define basic damage and color of weapon’s projectile.

Every bot and projectile has its color. The damage is increased if projectile color is close to enemy color and decreased when they are mismatched.

For example hitting magenta bot with yellow or cyan projectile inflicts minor damage but using magenta projectile increases it 3 times.

LightCells comes only in 3 primary colors (in BotHunter universe primary colors are: Cyan, Magenta and Yellow), but opponents can have primary or secondary colored armor. If the bot has secondary colored armor you need to use one of the primary colors it was made of to deal greater damage. For example hitting a red bot with cyan is hardly doing anything but using magenta or yellow will do the job.

Coolers

Coolers define max heat before the weapon will overheat and its cooling rate.

Each shot increases the weapon's heat. If the heat is too high the weapon will overheat and you won’t be able to shoot until it cools down. Higher tier Coolers increase max heat allowing you to shoot longer before overheating. They are essential for more advanced weapons because upgrading other modules increases heat required for each shot.

Triggers

Triggers define how your input is handled.

The best way to understand them is through examples. Currently there are 4 Triggers implemented:

  1. Pistol Trigger - on click shoot one time

  2. Burst Trigger - on click shoot quick 3-shot salvo

  3. Rifle Trigger - on hold shoot constantly

  4. Heavy Trigger - on click make one powerful shot. It requires greater cooldown between shots

Barrels

Barrels define how projectiles fly out from the weapon.

Currently there are 3 Barrels implemented:

  1. Simple Barrel - shot one projectile

  2. Double Barrel - has two barrels. On the first shot launch one projectile from the first barrel, on the second shot use the other barrel and so on. This decreases cooldown between consecutive shots

  3. Shotgun Barrel - on one shot shoot multiple projectiles

Magazines

Magazines define what type of projectile the weapon will shoot.

Currently there are 5 types of Magazines implemented:

  1. Blaster - simple energy projectile

  2. Grenade - projectiles that explode after delay

  3. Mine - projectiles that explodes on enemy proximity

  4. Fireball - slow but powerful projectiles that explodes on contact

  5. Rocket - homing projectile that explodes on contact

That concludes all module types you can craft in Bot Hunter. Now it’s up to you how you will combine them to create your dream weapon. You can try it in the playtests we will be hosting soon. Stay tuned for more information!

Cheers!
