Arena Rework is Live!

Heya everyone, I'm back with another update and lots more changes! Quite a few things to cover across the whole game the main focus is on the Arena this time around since I've been neglecting it to focus on the campaign

Heya everyone, I'm back with another update and lots more changes! Quite a few things to cover across the whole game the main focus is on the Arena this time around since I've been neglecting it to focus on the campaign. SO! let's get into it:

Fixes:

  • fixed an issue with some boss enemies not moving in arena when spawned

  • fixed spelling error in chapter 3's opening cutscene

  • fixed issue in arena where the boss per wave value was not changing based on entered info

  • fixed issue where you can't pause in arena

  • fixed game end screen UI not working as intended in arena

  • fixed an issue where some enemies could lose the player and just leave in the arena

  • fixed some flying enemies trying to chase a missile and flying away

  • fixed lives not correctly being set in arena

  • fixed rain incorrectly being displayed when using standard boat in arena

  • fixed ability to shoot rockets and guns as well as move camera on game end in arena

  • fixed USSA boss boat death object being the wrong variant

  • fixed issue where the enemies were not correctly being rotated to the spawn points rotation in arena

  • fixed an issue where boss rush would never end leaving the player trapped until they ran out of lives

  • fixed mech type 2 death object still shooting missiles

  • fixed enemies spawning inside each other in arena

  • fixed an issue where the enemy kill count was not correctly added to final score in arena

  • fixed an issue with how the grass and leaves shader was rendering where it would render in front of other grass/leaves

  • fixed issue where the quit to menu button was not working in some contexts

New stuff:

  • added some under water geometry and tweaked the terrain in Ch4 lvl1

  • added underwater vegetation to some campaign levels

  • added final lives count to end screen in arena

  • added set count and waves to boss counters for the arena

  • added missing camera shake to the destroyed jet death object

  • added an unstuck button to the arena in case, ya know, you get stuck

  • added a new boss enemy exclusive to the arena (was cut content from chapter 5!)

  • added two new achievements pertaining to the arena (*SECRET*, and arena kills)

  • added new map header images for each of the arena maps

  • added 3 new maps to the arena

  • added some geometry to chapter 1

  • added target waypoints to remaining enemies when only a couple remain increasing with enemy count

Additional Changes:

  • reworked the ice floaters to be more natural with a new script

  • improved the player and enemy boats to appear more natural in water with rotation stabilization

  • changed the hitbox of the enemy jet in Ch2 lvl2

  • made some tweaks to the jet AI (slightly decreased damage and added small dodge force)

  • reworked the original 3 arena maps to better fit the mode

  • changed several of the flying enemies to use variable offset to keep them on the same level as the player

  • changed the text fields to be increase and decrease arrows for the arena settings

  • changed the in-game settings menu to use the number values for sliders like main menu

  • optimized the palm trees, land and sea grasses for better performance

  • redesigned a few of the main menu screens

  • changed some terrain textures in Ch3 lvl2 for better cohesion in the level

  • optimized the waypoint adding script

Well then there's that! The arena should be mostly finished up; there are still some things that I might add later on but for now let's call it good to go (I hope!). As always let me know if there are any problems you find, and I hope you have fun playing the new and improved arena!
