Saving System V1. How It Works.

I have been getting great feedback recently and my backlog is now endless haha. I am very excited about the future of the game and I know that I will be busy during early access lol.

addedI have been getting great feedback recently and my backlog is now endless haha. I am very excited about the future of the game and I know that I will be busy during early access lol. That being said, I have noticed that when someone mentions a bug that makes the game crash he has to restart his run from scratch. So I stopped adding content for some time to focus on adding a save system.
removedIMPROVING THE TESTING EXPERIENCEThis save system is used for runs only and will be removed in the future. Meaning, this is only temporary while I am fixing most of the bugs. During early access, the demo might still be available but it won’t have any save. Only the main game will have a save file.
fixedIMPROVING THE TESTING EXPERIENCEAlso, the current save file will not be used for early access. It’s not used to get a head start, it’s only there as a QOL feature. It would be funny if the save system itself had a bug and made the game crash haha. Luckily, I update the game every 1-3 days right now so most of the issues should be fixed quickly.
addedFOR FUTURE MODDING?When the game saves it also adds a backup copy. This backup copy has no encryption so it shows all the save details. You can take a look if you want to learn more about how the game works. I also thought that it might help modders in the future (if modding is added of course). Since it’s a solo player game I don’t have to worry about players cheating.
addedANOTHER POSSIBLE IMPROVEMENTAnother thing that I might add is abandoning a run during a battle (like how it’s done during the room selection UI). That being said, it'll only work during the player’s turn to avoid dealing with endless edge cases.

IMPROVING THE TESTING EXPERIENCE

This save system is used for runs only and will be removed in the future. Meaning, this is only temporary while I am fixing most of the bugs. During early access, the demo might still be available but it won’t have any save. Only the main game will have a save file.

Also, the current save file will not be used for early access. It’s not used to get a head start, it’s only there as a QOL feature. It would be funny if the save system itself had a bug and made the game crash haha. Luckily, I update the game every 1-3 days right now so most of the issues should be fixed quickly.

This is the first save version too so it might not save certain parts of the game properly. Feel free to mention any issue you encounter.

SAVE FILE LOCATION

If you get softlocked due to a save issue you can simply delete the file directly. You can find it in a path like this: C:\Users\username\AppData\LocalLow\NourSaiFR\Blue Hunter”.

For example: “C:\Users\noure\AppData\LocalLow\NourSaiFR\Blue Hunter”.

Note: You might have to display “Hidden Files” in windows for “AppData\LocalLow”.

SAVE ISSUE WITH DEMO

It seems like the cloud save doesn't work with the demo (only main game). But this doesn't mean you can't save, it just means that you will lose the save if you delete it manually. The game will create the save file automatically and it should stay as long as you don't delete it. You should only lose it if it's overwritten by the cloud save which doesn't work right now. No idea if this is normal or not, I will contact Steam about it.

WARNING (FOR PLAYERS THAT HAVE STEAM KEYS)

Both the base game and the demo use their own cloud save system. This means that if you alternate between both you will get a bad surprise. I recommend you stick to only one of the games. This way you only use one cloud system at a time without mixing both.

FOR FUTURE MODDING?

When the game saves it also adds a backup copy. This backup copy has no encryption so it shows all the save details. You can take a look if you want to learn more about how the game works. I also thought that it might help modders in the future (if modding is added of course). Since it’s a solo player game I don’t have to worry about players cheating.

ANOTHER POSSIBLE IMPROVEMENT

Another thing that I might add is abandoning a run during a battle (like how it’s done during the room selection UI). That being said, it'll only work during the player’s turn to avoid dealing with endless edge cases.

SECOND CLASS

Now that many features are in place I am thinking of unlocking the second class (warrior) within the next 3 days. I think it’ll be useful to have a couple of weeks of feedback before going into early access.

Alright, back to work.

PS1

I made the patch notes font a lot smaller so it should be easier to keep track of what’s going on.

PS2

I noticed that the starter skill doesn't load with the save system. I will fix it in the next patch (1-2 days).

Discord is here.

Thanks, NourSaiFR
