addedHowdy y'all, big Dave here.So what exactly is Blood West: Scavengers? It’s our roguelite take on the Blood West formula. Instead of one main character, players will inhabit different scavengers (more on them soon) looking to make their fortune from the changes occurring out in the Barren Lands. Take contracts, earn money, buy better equipment, unlock new traders with new missions and challenges. Rinse and repeat for as long as you can. If you die, you start as a new scavenger - but meta progression and unlocks make sure your next start will be a bit easier and always more interesting.
changedHowdy y'all, big Dave here. How many maps will there be? Players will be able to re-visit the main game maps: Canyons, Swamps and Mountains. Of course, there will be changes - not only to where and what kind of enemies there are, where and what loot lies in dark corners, but also some.. other changes. Was this cave always here? What about that odd camp up above? You’ll have to see for yourself.

Howdy y'all, big Dave here.

Now last month we revealed that Endless West had a whole new name and is practically a brand new game. One we're calling Blood West: Scavengers. Some people might call it Rogue West, you might even call it Bloodcrash, but one thing's for certain. You'll be calling it FUN.

Now we know you got more questions and good thing - we got answers too!

  • So what exactly is Blood West: Scavengers?

    • It’s our roguelite take on the Blood West formula.

  • How many maps will there be?

  • Anything from Dead Man’s Promise?

    • Of course! Even if you don't own it. A good bit of content from Dead Man’s Promise will be available in Scavengers. But not everything. The Shaman isn't playable in Scavengers so you won't be able to use his signature weapon types.

  • Are enemies and loot fully randomised?

    • More or less. Everytime you return to any map, enemies will be different and placed differently. There are rules to randomness however. Some enemy types won’t appear straight away, instead the stronger enemies will start populating the map as the player progresses and fulfills contracts. So no, you won’t meet a Hellbear in the starting town. Yet.

  • Is this DLC canonical?

    • Kinda sorta not really. The less we consider this canon the more fun we can have with it. However NPCs that could have moved on or died in the main game aren't present here for "story" reasons since we do TRY to keep the lore in tact. So no Annabelle, sorry :(

  • What else is new? Are there new mechanics, features?

    • Yes, quite a lot actually!

      • 10 NEW weapons

      • 6 new craftable artifacts

      • Treasure hunting - acquire a map and try tracking down the loot

      • A series of riddles that await challengers

      • New mini-locations on the old, well traversed maps.

      • Map events that change specific locations - a familiar place may look quite different

        • Some of these changed locations will contain rare loot

      • Collectible figurines (31x) to display at the bar and give you stat bonuses

        • Don't call them bobbleheads.

      • 10 blessings to acquire, including 8 new ones

      • New human enemy variants

      • New monster enemy variants

      • Wall trophies to display of BIG BAD kills

      • 32+ challenges to spice up the missions

  • How much progression is there?

    • Currently we have progression marked down for a whole month (31 days) - but surviving for so long won’t be easy! Actually, it’s pretty damn hard, especially without some of the unlockable traders and improvements.

    • But how long can players go? There’s no limit. Survive as long as you can, beat your previous best and gloat to your friends.

  • How difficult is this DLC?

    • We’d say it’s a tad bit more difficult than the base game. Especially due to the randomness adherent to this mode. Some runs may be cut short by a stroke of bad luck or one bad decision. But everybody should be able to survive for at least for a couple of days. And all the difficulty modes from the main game are present here too.

  • Does the game become progressively harder as days go by?

    • The longer the player survives, the harder the missions - this is the baseline. With time more monsters may appear on maps as well as different, stronger enemy variants. The difficulty is also affected by certain challenges and maps - going into the Mountains for example will be more difficult than the Canyons or Swamps.

  • Does your progress save if you quit the game?

    • Yes, we're not masochists.

  • What's with the sun? Is there a time limit for each mission?

    1. Well - due to changes to the Barren Lands, prolonged demonic sun exposure is not recommended - scavengers who spend too much time out there tend to be chased by a new breed of deadly Spirit. They can be avoided. For a time.

  • New achievements?

    • Yes.

  • When?!

    • SOON™

  • How much!?

    • Just $4.99 and your soul!

  • Only $5? Really?!

    • Listen, times are tough out there. Games are more expensive than ever, people are bein' paid less, and people are spendin' less! So we reckon the least we could do is make this final DLC for Blood West feel like a victory lap (after more than 5 years of development) and a no brainer for people who already own Blood West and a good incentive for new players to pick up the game and maybe even the upcoming Bundle...

Blood West: GOLD Edition. (it'll replace the Dead Man's Edition and include both DLCs)

Steam post image Coming SOON™

A release date ain't too far away - we've still got a bit of work left to do fixin' up and polishing Scavengers - but we've also been having a ton of fun going for one more run every night. Once it gets its hooks in ya, it's definitely hard to stop.
