Bleaklight Falls Progress Update June 2026
Hello everyone!
It’s been 10 months since I released the demo for Bleaklight Falls last August. In the months following its initial release, I updated the demo a few times to include some additional content as well as the Chinese and Japanese translations. Thousands of people played it, and many people gave me some great feedback and made playthrough videos as well, so thank you very much for that!
For the past 6-7 months I’ve had my head down working hard on the full game, and I haven’t given much of an update on how things are going, so this is me doing that now! A lot of the content for the full game is coming along well. Here are a few big things worth mentioning:
The final 3 Weapon Types - Scythe, Hammer, and Focus
110+ Unique Items all with functional special effects
Side areas/dungeons - Waterfall Caves and lower levels of the Mines (currently WIP)
15 Landmarks in the main forest area that are places for quests, lore, events, and secrets
The Notice Board that provides daily events of different varieties at the Landmarks
Several new Villagers
Villager friendship unlocks that provide special game mechanics, upgraded crafting, and more trade options
All Tower types are now in the game, and Tower Evolution as a way to specialize the towers as you upgrade them
All Dreadblight Monster enemy types I had planned are now in the game, providing more challenge as the story progresses
All of the Dreadblight Bosses (except for the final boss) are in the game and terrorizing me regularly
3/7 of the main story chapters are complete and the subsequent chapters are in progress
Overall I’ve been roughly keeping with my estimates of the scope of content I have planned for the full game and how long each feature is taking to implement. As things usually go, some of the features take longer to implement and some take less time. Most of the core mechanics of the game are implemented and working properly, but there are still several large pieces that need doing, including but not limited to:
The remaining chapters of the main story and the final boss
Completing the Mines dungeons and adding 1-2 more side areas to explore
More enemy types in the forest and dungeons, and optional side bosses
More friendship unlock mechanics for the villagers to be hooked up
Villager matchmaking quests and a lot more side quests throughout the game
Craftable end-game set gear with the Emergence system
Farming and Fishing
Playtesting, balancing, language localization, improving controller gameplay, and more pre-launch tasks
I know the big question that we all have is, “when will it be released?” Well considering how much there is left to do, I can say with 95% certainty that it will come out next year, in 2027. It’s still up in the air whether I will do Early Access first or shoot for 1.0 release off the bat. My highest priority is to complete the full main story quest, and if I can do that in a timely manner then I’ll be leaning towards a full 1.0 release. In that case, I will definitely need some help playtesting the game, so if you’re at all interested in that in the coming months, please join our Discord server!
